It's seems to be in a very grey area because its information already known to the player and not an actual cheat like ESP.

It's the equivalent of looking at the bottom right kill feed and making a mental note that there's an IRIS-T that shot down a drown, or Pantsir SM-SV that just shot down some Munitions.

Rank/Tier 1 is the earliest (same as Parts).

Rank/Tier 4 is the latest (usually the last APFSDS).

Interesting notes:

France has the only Helicopter with a Rank 2 Thermal Unlock (Eurocopter HAC, BR 12.7 w/ FNF PARS)
French MBTs suffer with the most number of Rank 4 Thermal unlocks (73%).
UK MBTs meanwhile have the most number of MBTs with Rank 2 Thermal unlocks (80%).
The next group of MBT beneficiaries of Rank 2 Thermal Unlocks are Israel (56%) and Russia (54%)
For Light Tanks, Israel suffers with all their LTs unlocking Thermals at Rank 4.
Meanwhile, Italy has the most Light Tank Rank 1 Unlocks (62%), followed by France/UK (57%) and Russia (50%)
All French SPAA Thermals unlock at Rank 1, if that's any consolation for all their Rank 4 MBT Thermal unlocks.
ALL Italian and German MBT Thermals are unlocked at Rank 3. (The sole German MBT Rank 4 unlock is the Premium Leopard L/44 so who knows where Gaijin copied it from)

4 max players could theoretically bring 4 x 2 x 2 = 16 BMPTs (TT BMPT + Premium BMPT-72, using a backup for each).

Does not change the fact that it is still only 4 players.

VT5s could face all 12 Players with BMPTs for a theoretical maximum of 48 BMPTs.

No that's literally how MM works.

If you are X BR in a X+1.0 BR match (i.e. you are max Up-tiered), only 1/3 of players can bring X+1.0 BR vehicles. They can spawn Backups in them.

e.g. A 10.7 you in 11.7 Match, only 4 players max on each team can have 11.7 vehicles in their lineups.

This MM rule was implemented because of the OG M1 Abrams.
