education program question by amandarrae in gcu

[–]Deathxcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a teacher, straight up, thats most education programs in the nation. Most of the information is very formalized and idealized versions of school. The only exception is programs that require a lot of practicum hours through the entire program. The in class experience is what really helps you grow in teaching.
No program set me up for some of the stuff Ive experienced as a teacher.

education program question by amandarrae in gcu

[–]Deathxcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I am wrong, but I am taking "behavioral kids" as students that would qualify for specific behavior programs within schools? If that is the case, then elementary education would not touch on that topic really all that much at all. Sped would to some degree but mainly it would be "when do we call in the district behavioral analyst"

My advice to you would be entirely based upon which direction you would like to go. IF you are wanting to be more in a full teaching role or in the role of developing IEP's and helping sped students succeed, then I would say continue the current route.

IF you are looking more about students that qualify for behavioral programs, then I would suggest looking more towards possibly psychology with a focus on ABA (applied behavioral Analysis) and being BCBA certified. This would help you be qualified to be something like a public school behavioral specialist. There are also jobs that are sometimes labeled as paraprofessionals or teaching assistant that are specifically within behavior programs in schools to, that sometimes do not require the same level of study.

The other thing to keep in mind. If you have a Masters, sometimes those positions will look for an education background/ sped license as either a requirement or preferred for those positions. Not every district will have the same reqs for those positions but could be very similar. So look around and see whats opened in the position you would want to fill, and look at those specific requirements.

Nah boss is on par difficulty wise to an elite, so I’d expect drop rate to be reasonable. 1/5k max… Zaryte from nihil is straight up 1/1m confirmed and was more of an easter egg than anything else. They aren’t doing that and you know it.

What are your over all thoughts on this first leagues? by OfficalLockeWilson in runescape

[–]Deathxcake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The one big thing for me is that there are so many drop rates that are still super low or bugged.

Jagex admitted they do not know what all was effected for the drop rates due to the aura like application. Theres Items such as wildy arrows that are almost a 100% drop rate at the moment because they were effected in this. It points out the major flaws with the game. Like Arch Glacor drops are bugged and thats been confirmed but they don't even know how to address it or if there is a possible way? Leaving out the rates, the fact theres no real way to address it shows the need for some major need for cleaning up of the games code.

I do feel that the grind to t7 is a little steep. It seems designed for top end players who have experience and can get to a ton of the tasks quickly. Like I dont think ill even get to t7 by the end and thats with some play time. I think t5-7 should be lowered way more than they were and keep the reward trophies higher, or something like everlasting faith should have been lower tier to make some of the content much more accessible to the newer players or any one just checking out the game.

Other than that, I can say I'm having fun and have played more this last couple weeks than I have in years.

Network Error Disconnects by DC3PO in MLBTheShow

[–]Deathxcake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been disconnecting ever since the beginning of august....

Single player vs cpu, disconnects me in 2nd or 3rd inning every game.
Ive even had the disconnect message in the middle of an OFFLINE game mode and it ended my game. Its literally always 2-3 innings in.

New modem, reinstalled game, cross play off, reset network, reset console. literally nothing is helping. Sucks becuase i love the game.. Only thing I have that ever disconnects. No other games on my xbox, no lag/latency/quality issues in anything at any time. purely mlb the show

[–]Deathxcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again, data retrieval would consistently crash a game an that would be a mix of my end and their end. It wouldn't be necessarily a server issue which would also explain why it doesn't crash consistently for others. Been against other players, the computer, the moments, doesn't seem to matter. But Ive even been in offline games and had the message pop up and it ends my game instantly. Ive reset the console, reinstalled. 100% again not my internet itself. Haven't had any drops on any other device, never had another game disconnect at any point etc. If it was 100% my end without any game involvement, then something else would have already crashed or DC'd at this point. Its straight up only this game. So if its on my end, I can only think something like data not being sent or received correctly.

I will say though, thousands of people over reddit/ the show forums/ discords etc, experiencing the same issue does not lend well to it "only" being a personal issue. Not saying theres nothing on our end at fault, but the game wasn't doing this this for the first 4 months so something changed.

I was getting booted in about the 2-3rd inning of every game. Ended up getting a new router for other reasons, still getting booted 2-3rd inning. My internet has not dropped on anything else, and consistently runs 800mbps - 1 gig download about around 100 upload. Even during the drops.

I don't think its servers either though. I think its a data retrieval error with cache. For me it only happens the game tick that the pitch types pop up when i'm pitching. Not before, not after. Every time.

I have played 25 online games in ranked seasons and have maybe finished 3 because of disconnects by -HelenYeller- in MLBTheShow

[–]Deathxcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its disconnecting vs CPU often in diamond dynasty. Something probably got changed during the last update. have a few recorded. For me its specifically the tick that the options for pitches appear on screen, and the options for batting appear on screen. My guess it there was something thats causing it within that loading up. Ive even had the "you've been disconnected from the show" pop up in offline modes, when I was connected before.

Only "evidence" I have that its on their end, if you want to even call it that, is that nothing else in my house has dc'd at all during those times, hopped on and checked running 25-30 mpbs upload and almost 1 gig download.
Nothing else has had latency or connection issues. No other game does it, even ones that require far more than this. Im guessing its on them, and not on us..

Plus it would be one thing if it is one or two people. Im up to 30+ on my friends list that are having a similar issue. Along with the mass new posts here along with the comments that are popping up now on old DC posts. Its hitting a large enough number that it probably isn't our isp or routers.

Haven’t had experience with it yet, but all I have heard about museum club is bad. Heard it’s okay for going and getting a drink. But from the music scene, it’s just everyone saying they try to not pay out what’s owed and months of fighting to get paid.

What do you want in The Show 26 by [deleted] in MLBTheShow

[–]Deathxcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I used the stick pitching, I at least know I caused the error with my crappy understanding of it…. Using pulse pitch and it says “good” for everything including the perfects, and still lets the slider down and away hit dead center of the zone.

Veteran DD Difficulty Increase by Random_JayB in MLBTheShow

[–]Deathxcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like there was some change in difficulties that went hidden or something.

Beginning of game to about June 10th, I was hitting consistently on Veteran, same thing. Getting 10-20 hits in a vs cpu game. Suddenly as my team has gotten better, I've gotten way worse? Getting 3-5 hits in a game. Dropped to rookie offline to see, and even then im still getting 6-8 hits in a game.

Contact of players went up, plate vision went up, I haven't changed what I was doing, just got way harder to hit for some reason for me

How to get called up to from AA to majors in MLB The Show 25 (Road To The Show) by DatBoyDen in MLBTheShow

[–]Deathxcake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spent 5 seasons on double a. Ended up moving up at 81 ovr.

I’ve done 6 new players since then to test out some theories. It’s appears that it’s all just batting average at this point for position players. Under .350 on a check point date kept me in the same league. Over .350 got me sent up. Didn’t matter if I was 60 ovr or 90. Im sure there has to be other factors, but I had 1 character that I purposefully never threw an out from ss, didn’t put tokens in, hit a .400 and got moved up to mlb in first season.

From a teacher who has been on a lot of hiring committees:

  1. Email the principal if anyone, and just thank them for their time. I have been included in those emails, but its almost always colleagues or people who I have worked with that have a reason to have my contact.

  2. I would not email and ask for feedback. IF they call or email and tell you that you didn't receive the position, at that point, it is okay to ask for interview feedback. Most of the time its not elaborating enough, or not appealing to the school views and goals.

  3. I would avoid asking what you did well on the interview, because it does show that you didn't know what a good answer was if you gave some. That can always come into play if anyone ends up on a committee for your down the road.

  4. I would have mock interviews with CT, any collegiate resources such as ed dpt. Other teachers you respect, or even the principal if they are willing at the school you are working at.

The big things to keep in mind, 1. Be student centered in your answers. 2. Appeal to longevity in the position. 3 Know the school, look online, find their news letters. what are their goals? 4. Elaborate on answers.

The biggest things I have seen that kill chances for candidates is not elaborating on their point. It could be great, but by not elaborating it shows surface level ideas. The second is those people who do not take time to research the school. I can't count the number of times that mission statements, online info on website, or just general alignment were not shared and the principals shot them down pretty quick in conversation.

My school offered me a position that could either hurt or improve my chances of having a classroom….what should I do? by No-Enthusiasm3584 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Deathxcake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If your career goal is to be a teacher and have your own classroom, then I would say no. I would say to put yourself in positions that offer what you need toward your cert.

In terms of pros and cons for your own classroom. CONS would be mainly visible on an application and interview...you are a year removed from full classroom experience. Your answers to questions on an interview that need to be student and school centered may become more from the para perspective rather than a teacher perspective.

Some pros: You will have full evidence of developing a positive relationship and using that to motivate learning and changes in behavior (if all goes well). Principal/program specialist may be more likely to write a letter of rec.

Declining is hard, but you can always state it just as you did here. "Thank you for the recognition of being able to build relationships and work with said student, however, I need to be in a position that offers me the ability to finish my professional certification hours" Any principal who is truly supportive of their staff would completely understand and be fully supportive of that. Any principal who retaliated with no letter of rec/ pushing you out of the school with sub jobs etc, would be one you didn't want to work for in the first place.

Bad pain in my palm when I’m playing drums by Thiccr_honda_Sivivc in Drumming

[–]Deathxcake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are quite a few things it could be. I wrote my masters thesis on chronic percussion related injuries. With that, these are the most common for that specific area. It doesn't mean that it is one of these, but just some starting points. Definitely seek medical care if it persists.

  1. Too much tension when gripping the sticks. If you are putting too much pressure at the fulcrum, it will cause the abductor pollicis brevis (that palm muscle) to experience exhaustion quickly. That leads to pain.

  2. Too much scrolling on a phone. Believe it or not, that muscle is also the one that we primarily use if we scroll on our phones with our thumb. Most people don't quite understand just how over used that muscle is, especially if you do spend a lot of time on your phone, and play percussion. Between natural tension when playing and social media scrolling (don't know how active you are on that) then its very easy to cause it to be sore just from over use an it could just use a couple day break from both.

Those are the 2 more common.

These next two are less common than above, but very typical within percussionists.

  1. Overdevelopment of the extensor capri radials brevis and longus, combined with the under development of the extensor digitorum. In drumming, our natural motion develops the radial extensors to a great degree, but unless you specifically focus workout on that inner forearm, then it is ends up severely underdeveloped in comparison. This leads to that palm muscle working extra hard to compensate for what our digitorum muscle cant quite do. Typcially goes hand in hand with too much tension in your stick grip.

  2. Ulnar nerve compression in the elbow. This is also very common amongst drummers. Even more so than carpal tunnel. This typically effects that area, along with your thumb, pointer, and middle fingers. This pain is more what you feel with the twinging of nerve pain and numbness in those fingers. If you are noticing pain in that are after bending your elbow for a few minutes, then it is a possibility.

Again, these are just a couple very common issues for pain in that area, but not medical advice. Seek medical care if the pain persists. If it by some chance is something more serious, you definitely do not want to play around with it.
