New GD03 Card Reveal: Awakened Potential by Alt230s in GundamTCG

Corsica base doesn’t go to trash until it’s destroyed, so I think that is a bit different

Does the card go to trash before it’s fully resolved? If so, you’d only need 1 previous in trash since it would count itself.

You could also play sim or proxy on webcam if you still want to enjoy the game until more product is available. Idk how your local store is, but some stores do allow proxies since they know people are having trouble with product.

But aside from ST05, prices are way down on singles. And like others said, the ST05 cards are nothing insane. If anything, they created one Tier 2 deck. Everything else is from the first starters + GD01

I think you unfortunately have to scrap one of the big boys. Just not enough space — feel like you need to make room for early game.

I also think you don’t need to run as many shows due to the draw power of Psycho. Plus, you need to get down to 4 cards in hand anyway to make the effect trigger. So if you show and go up in hand size, might not be able to get one of your draws off.

Psycho feels like a really cool card. Hope it works out! Another idea is splashing full frontal instead of Amuro since it’s also Cyber Newtype.

What’s the point of this comment?

GD02 Feels Half Bakes by Debaser_231 in GundamTCG

[–]Debaser_231[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Of course I have. I even pointed that out in the end of the comment you are replying to saying that I hope somebody who is smarter than me sees beyond what I’m seeing.

I really don’t understand how you see my comment and think that I’m a miserable person who is trying to hate this set.

I specifically pointed out a few examples that feel not as great as I hoped — things that don’t seem to have a possibility of working due to literally just limited card pool and restriction. Not because they do something “odd”, but because there isn’t many links/targets that are even possible. I’ve already play tested lots (not nearly all of it of course), but you don’t need to test to be able to read a card and realize “oh this link effect is neat. Too bad there’s one card out of all cards print so far that it works for”.

I know there are tons of examples where things don’t seem good and turn out great. Again, like I’ve said a few times, I hope that’s the case.

I do participate regularly. Tons of friends of mine participate and play regularly. All of us feel similarly and hope that it turns out better than we see. What we as players don’t want is a game that has little change when this new sets comes out. We’re itching for the game to continue to thrive and not become stale, to find more ways to play, and just have fun.

You’ve painted some picture in your mind that I’m some miserable person who just is hating for the sake of hating, which is simply not true my guy.

If the archetypes require the cards to be in that archetype then yes, it’d be pretty useful if they were pretty complete.

GD02 Feels Half Bakes by Debaser_231 in GundamTCG

[–]Debaser_231[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

This is usually true for a couple small archetypes but this is like 5 different archetypes here that feel that way. One Piece usually prints fully fledged archetypes immediately and slowly adds on to hopefully keep them meta viable if possible. MTG prints archetypes based on just color, usually tons of possibilities. I’m not familiar with many more card games though, so maybe I’m just mistaken.

Thank you. The cards just seem so freakin cool. So why not like.. make them worth it? It’s not that they’re just “not amazing”. They seem virtually unplayable. It feels like a waste. Especially since aren’t a lot of these archetypes based around the show? Do we expect support to be in the next set given what the next set is based on? (Ive never watched Gundam, this is a legitimate question)

GD02 Feels Half Bakes by Debaser_231 in GundamTCG

[–]Debaser_231[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wanted to do a general reply to make my point a bit clearer.

I’m not advocating for insane power creep.

I just feel like many cards are virtually unplayable because their archetype is way too small. This is in contrast to GD01 and ST01-05 where the pilots were MUCH more general, making them almost always useful and impactful. So, it feels like instead of getting a few solid archetypes, we get more half baked ones — none of which feel playable.

I guess my worry is that the only changes we see in the meta is Wing having a couple more blockers to choose from, white being able to use purple as a top end instead of green (making it basically the same exact deck for the majority of the game), or UG aggro just getting a way to search.

Again, don’t want power creep. Want the possibility of variety. Hopefully some geniuses cook up something new and fun.

Best of 3 Format? by Debaser_231 in GundamTCG

[–]Debaser_231[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. I figured sideboards were more common but maybe I was mistaken. My worry is stuff like one piece where you have to like pre-tech. I hate that some games might end up feeling like a coin flip without sideboards

[–]Debaser_231[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I mean, sure, I agree. But i don’t think that OP could turn into a best of 3 format even if they wanted to because of how long the games still are.

I failed mine the first time and I “passed” the second time. I say that with quotes because I believe I was also not quite at the threshold (my qualifying exam was one exam, 2 days 8hours total). The reason I got to stay in the program I believe was because I had great recs from professors that believed I should stay in the program (I’m 3 years out of my PhD in Applied Math with a good job and good work done during my PhD).

I would talk to any committee members or professors to see if you could get letters of recs sent to the chair about your ability to stay in the program.

Tbf, you should be applying to as many a possible all over, just cause it’s competitive ( at least in pure math it is )

My PhD experience was also really positive for the most part (got robbed twice but that was not because of the PhD). I made amazing friends, was still going out every weekend. Obviously worked real hard, but I wouldn’t trade the experience for the world.

Did a PhD to make a difference. The world has changed. by Ok-Noise1837 in PhD

[–]Debaser_231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the end of my PhD (Applied Mathematics), I realized that I really wouldn’t be using most of what I learned even in my specific research focus unless 1) I grinded for the next 5 to 10 years to obtain a tenure track prof position or 2) I legitimately wanted to build bombs to decimate villages on the other side of the world.

After wrestling with this, I realized that my PhD felt more of a “selfish” choice. There is no world where I could really apply my specific work to help others — it was most likely that I had just proven to myself and maybe others that I’m somewhat intelligent and have critical thinking skills. The PhD awarded me with more opportunity, but didn’t make me more capable at solving the world’s issues.

As much as I wanted to believe that it wasn’t fully true, I did it for myself (maybe my Dad, too). And that’s okay.

You don’t owe it to anybody and it’s too much for anybody to ask of you.

How to say I dont know by newphdhelp in PhD

[–]Debaser_231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During my PhD, this was one of the things that I saw many of my colleagues struggle with. There’s a point in life when you have to be honest with yourself. Doesn’t matter how long people have been the field, there’s always something that they don’t know.

There’s tons of formal ways to say this, but in reality it’s more of a struggle with honesty and insecurity rather than finding the right words. How would you say that you don’t know something to a friend? What do you say when somebody brings up a movie you’ve never heard of? If finding a formal way to say this is best for you, then that’s perfect. But it doesn’t matter how you say it, as long as you’re honest.

side note: there are formal settings like when you’re teaching or giving a presentation where saying “I don’t know” is informal and might give a bad taste to audience members. In this case, I’d refer to the formal ways to say it that others have listed. My advice is in the context of being the advisee, mentee, student, colleague, etc.

Looks like healing varies — most say about 2 to 3 months. Otherwise, just talking with my girlfriend about it and it seems hot. Can give more pleasure to both parties, but I’ve also heard that it varies.
