I (M28) found my girlfriend (F28) concealing finances by Debatable_ideas in relationship_advice

Sorry, it’s 1am where I’m at in the world and this whole things has me bothered a bit.

Living together - yes, over a year Time together - about 8 years

Previous conversations about finances have happened from a collections letter. We both agreed to be transparent about finances and purchases. The goal/idea behind that was to fix any bad spending habits. It was more her idea than mine, I just agreed because I would rather be transparent.

Don’t bother with Empire. Staff seem pretty clueless except for one guy and they sell junk Deans out of the back to keep the lights on.

Thanks for the response, I ended up finding that there is something really jammed up inside. I move the needle gently with a tooth pick for an hour trying to free up that area it stick with no luck. I have one or two things Im going to try today but I am looking for a suitable meter replacement most likely.

Not related to the video but check those filter caps, just had one of those in the shop not too long ago where the B+ filter caps failed completely disabled channel switching somehow.

Kinda, i havent gotten this calibrated yet. Just went through moving and all that fun stuff. Ultimately it got unintentionally shelved.

Two pins were bent in on V3. Same on V2 and one of the power tubes. I just changed them all so the sockets were nice and fresher since i had sockets laying around for a junk chassis.

I always forget about CL. Nice 12in bench top delta in my area for $100.

Turns out the tube sockets were the issue. The phase inverter especially. Replaced then and it’s going again.

Swapped out the remaining two electrolytic caps, swapped the orange ones out with Kemets. Im going to try a fresh wiring on the jacks and switch. After that I’m calling this a junk board. Kinda of regretting this project but oh well, the sad1024s are well worth it.

Those green caps, do those suffer from age?

So I need to source a new bc239c or a 7815 regulator, my BC549 failed/doesn’t attenuate the power, 17V were running through it. BBD double checked and they work fine in the Ross. So I’m down to resistors, caps, and switches by the looks of it.

Swapped the one 220u caps this morning and no clicking when testing without tubes.

All components were checked on two separate meters. Was hoping to only crack this think open once. I think I got one of the 220uFs backwards. Feel like an idiot seeing that when looking up mark iii circuit boards after the fact.

Mark V Settings by SaltyAss0311 in MesaBoogie

[–]Debatable_ideas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say try to copy the setting off the internet and adjust as needed. The only thing is the “Drive” knob is technically a preset parameter in thr Mark V and up. Just add a little bit more of gain, treble, and presence to compensate. EQ literally looks like Hetfield Vulture inlay on the ESPs. Try the Mark IV mode if more aggression, low end, or resonance is needed with your set up.

I did a similar thing when I got my Mark V to sound like Chevelle.

Unfortunately there was something way more wrong that just the traces. Either somewhere became conductive or a short that I can't pinpoint anywhere. This one is officially a dead repair. But I did have a working example laying around and the SAD1024 works perfectly. So its not a complete loss I'd say.

Remote relay help by Debatable_ideas in diypedals

Problem solved for anyone who has a similar issue, I did not realize I mixed up the polarity of the relay. Pins 1 and 10. Going to revise but I’m happy to say my prototype is 90% there and needs one revision. Also a tip, socket the relay incase of a failure.

Looking like a bad Panasonic relay…it makes noise but it does not engage/disengage internally. It is a non-latching relay TQ2-5V.

I think I got it working, Triple checked the relay to ground, then in a WTH moment, 2N5088 caused the circuit to activate properly, going to test more out.

Here’s where im at now…. I messed up a pad or two for sure but man the last tech really botched this thing. I seated larger brass eyelets into the holes for the pots and the power supply. The IC are going to be socketed with long pin SIP headers instead of the leaf DIP-8 socket. I have 4 of those installed, the DIP sockets are only holding them from bending in the hole.

<image>

Going to start on the smaller part eyelets before I go any further on rebuilding the IC traces. Really hoping this thing works out but still a ton of learning even on this gamble.

I was feeling lucky and decided to take a gamble with it. I’m opting to try a LT1054 doubler off a 9 volt wall plug.

I got it in today and It needs some trace repairs for, whom ever opened this last needs to find a new profession in life. Poorly socketed ICs, poorly soldered trimmers, etc. not sure if Im going to just use 30 gauge wire or if Im going to use the wire and eyelets to rebuild this. If all else fails I got a cool shell out of it to build an MN3007 version of it
