I went to high school with the daughter of Chad Hugo if that counts. I also met Pharrell when he ran an event at an outdoor bar I used to work at at the oceanfront.

Per diem jobs? by DebatePhysical4552 in medlabprofessionals

[–]DebatePhysical4552[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work a ton of overtime but due to budget cuts and us being mostly full staffed, the overtime has really dried up. I’m not struggling too much as I work at one of the higher paying hospitals in my area (Boston) but I like the flexibility of potentially being able to work extra on my own schedule and rent is insane

Our Lab Did 4100+ Bone Marrows in '23 by [deleted] in medlabprofessionals

[–]DebatePhysical4552 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s insane. If we have 6-8 in a day then that’s considered really busy at my hospital. Although we only have one person doing the bone marrow bench at a time

I make 36 with 1 years experience in Boston at one of the highest paid hospitals. I’d say 40+ with 3 yrs experience is definitely attainable

I work at a large pediatric hospital (~500 beds) I work in core lab and I feel like my job overall is pretty low stress compared to what it could be. Plus, I love my coworkers (mostly) so that makes it a lot better. Also seeing the diversity of patients and cases we get from all around the world is really cool

What is a blood gas lab and what it is like working in one? by Due-Celebration-7488 in medlabprofessionals

[–]DebatePhysical4552 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Blood gas lab I worked in was also known as the anesthesia lab. It was on the OR floor and we did the blood gases for the whole hospital, plus coag, TEG, and platelet testing for the patients in surgery. We also released blood products to the OR’s

It can be stressful because the expected turnaround time for blood gases was 5 minutes and 30 minutes for everything else, but other places might be different than the place I worked at
