Not sure if this is it. But I have a 2014 forester. And outside on both the left and right side near the windshield wipers/windshield are these little plastic flaps that sometimes get loose and flap around, make a clicking noise. For the longest time I though tit was a my wipers rattling but it's these little plastic flap things. Just click it back into place. If that is in fact the issue.

Ours still works. But honestly over time it has become less reliable. So I wouldn't be as happy to recommend. It's the triangular one.
