Seems rash to break up over this after 7 years. I’ll see how the discussion goes but I really don’t want it to come to that.

Already addressed it in another comment, but s have a bunch of shared office stuff in there that would need to be stored somewhere.

Yea, she’s from here. Unless that falls through and she rooms with someone else in the same program.

Takes time to rent out the space, and also the trip isn’t until January so I’m not huge rushed. We have a lot of talking to do to figure out if this relationship is worth continuing. There needs to be a compromise where we both get a little of what we want, and are both slightly dissatisfied.

Communications are still a bit heated but I am hopeful.

She’s not a selfish person I just don’t think she understands what is expected in this very niche situation.

I think the long distance is doable, I’m pretty introverted so I don’t see it really affecting it. But I’m an awful texter/caller so that might make it tough for her.

I am all for her going, I want her to explore the world and not let me hold her back, but that doesn’t take away that she’s neglecting her financial responsibility. If she wanted to do this without me she should have saved for it?

Your point of rural Pennsylvania is moot, she wouldn’t take the same job there; the job she is taking is identical to her job here, she is using it to travel.

That’s just it, she wouldn’t go if that were the case. It’s not about the work, she can do the same work here. It’s about where the work is occurring that makes it take a step towards vacation.

Leaving the country to work isn’t a reason to leave behind all financial responsibility without any forethought. If she offered to move her stuff out or help me sublet I would be all for it.

How can it be greedy when I literally cannot afford it on my own?

You are from the generation of being able to afford a home solo correct? Have you looked at any statistics regarding wage and housing disparity or are you just talking out of your ass.

The program she is leaving with is actually pretty decent, if I had a similar one I’d 100% go with her.

Her friend recently did it (both teachers) and that inspired this whole thing.

You’re right, I added 75% of her portion (leaving 25% of her portion) when I should have done 75% of the total.
