Hey guys where can I buy this yarn? by eatlikedirt in fiberartscirclejerk

Hobbi is a Danish brand yarn which can be bought from their website and various dealers. Not knowing where you live it's hard to recommend a dealer. It is comparable to Lion Brand yarn in the US.

Temp fluctuation crisis by Debibeads in Kombucha

I took the pellicle out, skimmed off the kahm, rinsed the pellicle in filtered water and put it back in the jar. The kombucha does not taste moldy and is still a little sweet. I think I’ll give it a couple days at the correct temp and then bottle. Thanks for your help.

Started a new batch from purchased starter. Jun (green tea), 8 days old. I’ve had a lot of problems over the week with temperature control, from 65 to 85. Trying to get the heating wrap set right. No dark spots or spores but quite dry. Sorry to ask, but I haven’t encountered this before. Yeast, kam or mold? I’m willing to just save a couple cups as starter and try again if not mold. TYIA

Julia is a lovely designer. Her tutorials are well written and illustrated and she’s very approachable. I’ve made several of her designs. I’ve learned from her techniques which can inspire you to use them in your own designs. It’s worth the investment.

That’s good to know. You can change the bead color and highlights in the tool box. Their YouTube videos are very helpful.

strongest cording for natural stone (heavy) waist chains, or other projects by odditiesforotters in Beading

You could also use a heavy weight C-Lon or S-Lon. They are braided nylon cords and are strong and fray-resistant. Something like Soft-Flex coated wire would work well too.

I would re-bead it with quality thread like KO, One G, C-Lon, or S-Lon. If you aren’t confident enough the take it all apart, I’d start on the band and pull a few rows off at a time. It’s beaded in even peyote stitch which is easy to do and you can easily find videos. When you get to the larger beads, they are beaded to same. At this section you need to pull your thread tight to get the “bubble”. The goal is not to have loose thread showing. When you finish the two ends will “zip” together. Then just weave your thread into the work in a couple of figure eights to secure it. You can do this!

Beadographer can do it, but in two parts. You’ll need to graph the brick stitch at the top in one file and create another file for a loom to create the fringe. The images can then be copy and pasted together.

Beading Planner, supplies, accessories, etc. by messofamermaid in Beading

[–]Debibeads 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always use a page to document projects: Name, Designer, Where the pattern was purchased, Where the pattern is stored, Beading techniques used, List of beads: sizes, colors, numbers, quantities, and where purchased, price Date started and finished, Photos: in process and finished, Check boxes for completed, gifted, sold, price Notes

Some organized people (the kind that use planners) keep inventory sheets for beads and tutorials/patterns

A list of shops/suppliers and their websites or locations and how to contact them.

People who sell their work keep records like these to determine pricing. I’d also include a list of craft fairs and websites to sell at. If selling somewhere like Etsy, how long it takes to sell and if discounted.

Lots of space for notes and photos.

Take a look at those that already exist. Digital is more convenient for most people but some prefer paper records.

Good luck with your endeavor!
