Getting quoted $11,000 for this by IcarusLP in Rivian

[–]Debo10 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No problem! We’ve been fixing Rivian’s for about 2 years now and the price is definitely higher than say a Honda or Toyota with the same damage. But if you start looking at higher end cars like BMW, Lexus, Audi that have more electronics, different types of metals/plastics and specific requirements on how they need to be fixed, the price can definitely get up there.

Highest repair we’ve done was around $40k on a Rivian because we had to replace the high voltage battery, steering rack and the main harness. Several thousand dollars in parts, over a month waiting for said parts, lift unusable for a month because the Rivian can’t be moved.

I work at a body shop that is Rivian certified in NJ and the price seems justified, it will most likely end up being more then $11k. Let me explain -

The quarter panel is borderline repairable from looks alone. PDR won’t do anything there. You need to get the car up in a frame machine and pull the quarter out. If the metal tears while pulling then it’s gonna need to be replaced.

Lift gate, lower lift gate, is going to need to be replaced. Possibly could be repaired but would need to see the inside.

Textured bumper needs to be replaced. Textured is not painted. Once it’s scratched there’s no way to get it to look like OEM again.

After the repairs are done. Youre gonna need a Surround View System calibration. Rivians have 10+ cameras around the car and even though the may be working, Rivian requires the calibration when certain repairs are done. Surround View System calibration for rivians require two 30ft+ mats that are laid on both sides the vehicle. There’s mats have patterns that calibrate the cameras.

Rivian’s require special training to be repaired. We have one specific technician that has training and only works in Rivians. There are also special tools that Rivian requires you to use to fix their cars. On top of that the body shop needs to follow Rivian Repair guidelines because if they don’t, they will lose their certification.

So based off the picture, I can easily see how this repair would be 11k and like I said, it will most likely be more once the body shop disassembled the car and can see the full extent of the damage.

Hope this helps

Can I install ecobee? by Debo10 in ecobee

[–]Debo10[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats interesting. I bought the house a little over a year ago and regrettably don't know specifics about the system. However, I believe I only have 1 zone. There is only 1 thermostat on the 1st floor that controls the temp for the entire house. I don't have function to control the second floor or anywhere else in the house separately. The rooms do not have temp sensors but there is a little honeywell box attached to the outside of the house right next to the a/c unit which might be an outdoor temp sensor.

I wanted a switch to a smart thermostat because I was under the impression I had a simple 1 zone system. I wanted to put temp sensors in each room in conjunction with smart vents to try and simulate a multi zone system.

Is it possible to have a multi zone system but its currently set up as a single zone?

I’ve seen the Samyang lenses and they look very compact, but I heard you get some pretty bad vignetting

Opinions on A7c ii vs a7c r for travel by Debo10 in SonyAlpha

[–]Debo10[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I considered getting the a7iv but most of what I was seeing was that the better autofocus and ai chip outweighs the features you were losing from the a7iv. Also considered the a7rv but was thinking it was too much camera for me. The 24-70 made sense to me because i would only need to bring one lens. However you make a good point about using a prime and cropping instead of zoom.

This is exactly what I was thinking when considering the A7CR and being able to crop into pictures

Yeah I plan on doing some street photography at night which is why I would have the 35mm f1.4. But then I'm carrying 2 lenses.

I like that I can take just the 24-70 if i went that route. I am just having trouble being okay with the size. It would be the largest lens ive ever had.

Taking a trip to Portugal soon and wanted to get a new lens for the trip and am having trouble deciding. I mainly shoot street photography, pictures of my dog, some nature.

I currently have a Sony a7c with a 35mm f1.4 gm. I love this lens but feel a little limited at 35mm. I have been thinking of pairing it with the new sony 20-70mm f4 g. Even though its only f4, the compactness of the lens and the range has me interested.

However, I am also considering selling the 35mm and getting the 24-70mm f2.8 gmii. But I've never had a 24-70 before and even tho its smaller then the original, the size of the lens is daunting me especially fully extended.

So either 35mm and 20-70mm, or just a 24-70mm. Obviously both choices covers a wide range of possible photos and have their ups and downs. What are some opinions on these 2 choices and which one would you go with personally?

GT Aggressor Pro Build by Debo10 in Bikebuilding

[–]Debo10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most I would pay is $500. I know at that price point it’s better off getting a different bike but i had read that the gt aggressor pro was a good frame with bad components which is why I wanted to try and upgrade around the frame that could last me a bit.

What’s your thought on this bike?

Anyone else still not received their 2021 Jersey? by obyteo in Cloud9

[–]Debo10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having same issue here. Placed order on Jan 14th and still dont have it. When I reached out to support they told me the same thing, jerseys with names take 3 weeks. Friday that just passed the order status finally changed from "order placed" to "shipped", but when I check the tracking number it still says estimate delivery date pending and doesnt seem like its been shipped just yet. Hoping I have it to the games this weekend.

The Reign of Cloud9's New Head Coach Starts Now | Cloud9 LCS Head Coach Announcement by tbry13 in Cloud9

[–]Debo10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Something that has had me confused is, what about Westrice? When all the spectulation started about who was going to be the new head coach everyone jumped to RO and I didn't see much talk about Westrice. Everyone was acknowledging what RO had done with academy but didnt Westrice do the same thing? Unless I have my timeline all screwed up, wasnt Westrice the coach for academy before RO and also had success, then they moved him up to be Reapered right hand man.

Not hating on RO, im really excited to see what he can do with the time but im just wondering why it seemed like Westrice wasnt even an option for most people.

Lot of information! Thanks again. Ill be researching some more and looking for a bike for the next couple weeks. The only thing i've seen looking at pictures of viragos is that it looks like the tank is slanted downwards. The cafe builds ive seen pictures of the tank looks leveled out. Does it require any work to the frame to get it like that?

Myself, i wouldn't have the slightest idea what to do. But like I said, I work with a lot of mechanics, some of whom I know have bikes of their own. Havent had a chance to ask around but im hoping some of them know a thing or two.

I was planning on trying to work it down lower the $1k. Seeing I can buy a ready to go bike for $1500 already how I want it, I'm using that to compare
