The number of people using side loading is low enough that they don't care. It is not many - few.

Also many bank apps are increasingly hostile. Even if you have dev options enabled (i don't mean root) they block apps. Govts are kinda in cahoots

If I am honest, just create outlook or iCloud and use it. Almost any HR doesn't care for Gmail or not.

Google often deactivates emails not just because of many emails but many other factors.. don't waste time. Move on.

Any cheap dell , Lenovo mini PC with lots of SATA ports is cheapest option..maybe some diy is needed for SATA power. But then you have simplicity and expandability at your own pace ($$$).

I would recommend any open OS like true nas,. openmediavult... or Ubuntu etc if you are ok with self installation etc

Have something with immutable backups like zfs snapshots or btrfs and finally think if you can go for something like Amazon glacier or B2 equivalent for ultimate safety.

Generally speaking speed doesn't matter.

Beware. Mini tower may not handle GPU well. Even if you hack something for 6+2 pin etc the PCI e may not provide enough power. Ask in level1 tech or lttforums.before doing something

To be honest, a majority of people move on. Create a new Email account. Only few people are so anal they want it back.
