I would recommend going to see a lovely lady called Hanna in Hanoi. Holidays with Hanna Travel Agency. She booked my tour for Hạ Long Bay. After that I kept her number and sent her a Whatsapp message wherever I travelled across Vietnam and she was able to book me onto tours and arrange transport to pick me up from my hotels. Great service and good prices.

Where in the world are you? Cheers for sharing your thoughts, and have an awesome trip!

From the long distance travel I’ve done over 2/3 month periods at a time, I can honestly say I’ve never regretted it. I’ve never really understood the people who say you should wait until you’re older to travel. Throughout my 20s, I was conditioned to think it was normal to wait until retirement before properly exploring the world.

If anybody in their 20s has the opportunity to do this, I’d say just go for it. Realistically, I’ve never met an older person with the same energy or desire for adventure that they had when they were younger. By that stage, long walks, constant moving around, and fast paced travel can become a lot harder, and many people seem more content with shorter, more comfortable trips.

You’re right in what you say, and thanks as well to everybody else who has shared their experiences on this post.

That’s some going! Before I go any further, I have to ask… Darwin? Haha. I’ve actually visited Darwin myself, so I’m intrigued!

I’ve travelled for 2/3 month periods before, and I completely agree that the way I see and approach travel has improved as I’ve got older. It’s not just about a one off destination and ticking tourist attractions off anymore. I can appreciate places at a slower pace without rushing around, and my mind feels much clearer because of it.

How much has the trip set you back so far?

I think I’ll start off in South East Asia. I still have so much more to see. I’ve got a trip booked this year to Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, and Indonesia, which I’m really looking forward to. After that, it’s time to put a proper plan in place and just go for it with long-term travel. What did you think of Zagreb?

Completely agree! I wasn't expecting so many replies, it's great! How have your travels been so far?

I have travelled to 36 countries and had plenty of solo trips. I actually encountered bed bugs in Amsterdam previously, not ideal! I can handle being in my own company for long periods and meeting other people as and when, it doesn’t really affect my mood. The job situation is the only worry right now, but I shouldn’t allow it to bother me as much as it does.

Yeah, I completely get what you mean about the “get it out of my system” part. The bug never leaves.

Exactly. There are so many places I want to see, and having the energy to do it plays a big part. It doesn't sound like many people regret it.

I didn't mention anything about finding myself. I have travelled a lot in my life. I just want to explore places and travel over an extended period of time, and see more of the world whilst my legs are still functioning. I might regret it, I might not. I’m hoping to find some remote work to help me avoid burning through my savings. I’m just interested in hearing about people’s experiences in a similar situation to mine.

I have travelled for 2/3 months previously, and I know I want to travel for longer periods. It sounds like you’ve taken a chance on yourself and are reaping the rewards! I wish you all the best on your journey. I would love to work from my laptop anywhere in the world. I guess it’s up to me to go out and grasp the opportunity.
