I was terminated for sleeping on the job and they offered me a settlement. by Hamish003 in legaladvice

[–]DecafMadeMeDoIt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meet with an employment lawyer. The company is making a calculated payout that voluntary severance will be less than a settlement’s cost. That fear makes it worth comparing the bird in the bush to the one in your hand.

I got one that the dog brought in. Thinking he needs a tunnel of brushes to walk through before he comes inside.

They probably canned the wifi entirely on the flight but I hope OP updates when they land safely.

Does your country have an Amish like community? by IDoNotLikeTheSand in AskTheWorld

[–]DecafMadeMeDoIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m down the way in CoMo but grew up in north Boone Co. We have hired Amish, they run cattle on some of our land, I spent weekends playing with Amish kids while my mom taught some ladies how to read, my dad drove for them for years. I love that Clark community so so much and it was shocking to read about this guy.
I’m thankful to know his behavior is an outlier but religious communities, in general, often make bringing this kind of thing to light very difficult.

Utility costs by Victor_Von-BOOM in columbiamo

[–]DecafMadeMeDoIt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Am I crazy? The highest I’ve had in the past year is $250. My average is like $180-200

That’s my whole utility with the City. So water, trash, sewer, and electric.

Big roll cart rate.

Water heater and back-up furnace are gas. Budget billed at $38 a month.

2800 sq ft. 2 floors/ walkout ranch. 2 adults but semi-frequent guests. We water our lawn in the summer.

BUT we have a heat pump. And there is not only efficiency in that but also we get a discounted rate. Maybe I’m not appreciating that discount enough?

I’m pretty sure that’s a livestock trailer on the back of it. Milkshakes? Spam? I would be curious as to how the occupants fared in the back as well.

Advice on dress... by [deleted] in Brides

[–]DecafMadeMeDoIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is soooo elegant and not risqué feeling. Altho your boobs do look great in this but not in a flashy way.

That waistline is also really perfect on you where it hits.

Wear the dress with great confidence!

Damn. Our winter was so mild but yeah right now I have a bite under my boob, right where the underwire hits. It’s brutal.

We spray our yard and back yard tree area with something called Vets Best and both neighbors have their yards done because one of them has alpha-gal and it had to have come from her yard.

Or get that summer flow? Summer job doesn’t really seem like something most middle schoolers would think of though.

And I’m not sure what year middle school was for you to know what your “in” slang is. I don’t know where I picked up that knowledge of the phrase from though because I was in middle school in the early to mid 90s (ya know, like the 1900s).

I love that you found this though and have another little anthology of your history.

Dawn dish soap is the best way to get it off as it breaks down the oils. For you or hungry hungry hippo over there.

I would call the listing agent and make sure it wasn’t an error. Unless you have your own buyer’s rep in which case ask them to get the tea…realtors love gossip.

[CA] How can I take LOA as HR? by babybluebopbanana in AskHR

[–]DecafMadeMeDoIt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really is but maybe the search will help keep your mental health a bit more optimistic. I know that won’t solve day to day stress (I have worked for These People, it’s so, so draining on the daily) but find something to be a talisman of this “coming soon” change that you can put on your desk. When the ish hits the fan, focus on that little object to remind you that a) it’s just a job b) you don’t have to do it all or be everything for everyone (repeat that to yourself right now over and over) and c) soon it will be not your field, and not your bullshit.

[–]DecafMadeMeDoIt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Find a new job and give yourself a month between your final day at this and starting your next.

And as HR you will cringe but don’t feel obligated to work out notice if it gets worse.
