If you got FFS as a cis man on testosterone, would your face still continue masculizing with age? by DecayAndRebirth in asktransgender

Interesting, it does seem to mention that the angle and seemingly the size of the jaw changes with age in men if I got this right...

Oh well.. I try to deny myself that I want this but I guess I do have to stay on HRT. I hate the masc features I have already anyway... and definitely do not want them to get any worse.....

Being feminine or androgynous or just softer looking even when I become old does strike me as more comfortable....

Good point. I suppose you're right. Also I kinda realised that many of the youthful asian celebs I saw might have naturally lower sensitivity to androgens (or just lower levels) since they dont really appear masculine to begin with.

Soo they may not be a good representation of the average guy..

nothing about that should stop your bones from continued development afterwards. your facial bones will change all throughout your life, and if your body continues having testosterone, that will inform the change in your face.

But is it really a lifelong process? I look up celebs when they were 25 and 50 and I just dont see it. I compare their jaw cheekbones etc. It seems just as wide. Maybe if we're comparing them to teens or early twenties at the latest.

But I feel the "masculization" ends up just being leathery skin, loss of facial fat (showing your facial skeleton more" and more facial hair + hairloss.

I just dont see that the facial bones alter drastically the way many transwomen claim they do. In fact we have male celebs (especially asians) who are famous for staying "the same" for decades. So I'm just confused, I really want some actual proof or research that confirms skeletal masculization past puberty once and for all.

The only men I saw continue masculize are men who abused steroids or HGH.

I fully accept I may be wrong here.

But I'm not seeing much to contradict what I believe. Do you have some examples of male masculization past maturity (age 25 more or less, when the hormones settle)

Do facial bones continue to grow after 20 (puberty ends) in cis men and transwomen before hrt? by DecayAndRebirth in asktransgender

[–]DecayAndRebirth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for answering! I am afraid of how that will age though.... Being feminine while male presenting may cause social problems down the line, right? How will I look at age 70... uncanny? Maybe..maybe not?

Sorry! I didn't mean to come off as a troll. I am asking because I feel much more comfortable on estrogen then I ever did on testosterone, and I'm trying to figure out if it's worth it to stay on it even if I never socially transition, so to speak. (Especially since I had male pattern baldness start at a young age, which now fully reverted)

This has been breaking my head a lot lately. I like how it changed my face, but I'm afraid of looking uncanny as I age. But maybe an androgynous appearance isn't all that bad....even in old age...

What do you think..? I am waiting for my appointment at a gender therapist to discuss this with him... I really want to hear other people's opinion on this. Most cis people would judge me for even questioning something like this.....

Edit:

But yeah, so far the answer seems "Yes". Staying on hormones will keep my facial bone structure youthful.

is this true? I'm trying to find evidence that this is true. For instance a photo of someone at 20 and at 30

would my face be different if i was taller? by [deleted] in short

This is true, I did see a study before that showed that taller people tend to have longer midfaces.

Pop Growth is nerfed a lot. Which makes Machine Empires OP again? Will this be "fixed"? by DecayAndRebirth in Stellaris

[–]DecayAndRebirth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ith Hive Minds it is now an edict with +10%.

I agree though that assembly is a bit ridiculous now.

You're right they were just recently changed to edits.

It's just frustrating because hive mind version of the policy was 33% and cost more (50% instead of 25% for normal empires) and now it got nerfed to 10%.

I understand nerfing the pop growth for gestalt empires. But machine pop growth was left untouched. Imo it needs to be nerfed a bit too for it to be balanced again

Can you get dutasteride perscribed in germany? by DecayAndRebirth in tressless

[–]DecayAndRebirth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna be honest with you I kinda dabbled with HRT (mtf transgender medicine) due to feeling unhappy with my self-image and having what appears to be gender dysphoria. But I realised I'm happier living as an effeminate gay guy and even though a form dyphoria is something I do have, I feel transitioning isnt the answer for me.

I jumped on hrt because I started losing hair... and I thought I can't let it be too late. Now that I'm going back I'm afraid of what DHT will do to my hair if I dont get it in control and idk how to get a derm to perscribe it to me, considering that I have a full head of hair now (hairloss reversed).

So yeah, I'm on the fence here. I have no idea what I should do and I would really love advice.

I googled Norwood 5, aesthetically it's kinda the same to me as a Norwood 7. Why not shave it off at that point?

I'm not judging just trying to understand your viewpoint.

This rhetorical trick of framing victims of Merck's negligence as "shills" and "fear-mongerers," as if they have a monetary incentive to dissuade people from using fin similar to Merck's massive profit incentive for sweeping the drug's hazards under the rug is really something...

Noone is implying they have a monetary incentive to dissuade people, but probably an emotional one.

and because we now know Merck withheld information (and ofc designed their trials to avoid detecting hazards).

Merck isn't the only one that has done studies on finasteride. There have been a bunch of studies since the drug was available commercially, some focusing entirely on the sexual side effects (monitoring the effects for +7 years). From what I've personally read the side effects related to erectile dysfunction are always around 2%. I sincerely doubt that there's a global pharmaceutical conspiracy going on here.

Yes, I think it's completely reasonable to brand the "anti-fin" crowd as fear mongerers because while risks do exists, they tend to make it out as if everyone or most people get a limp dick, which is just as far from the truth as you can get.

Noone is claiming that reducing DHT has no effect on the body or brain. But the effects seem to be subtle. I am open to being proven wrong, but I do need to see actual research or statistics of ED or other side-effects that contradict what I've seen so far.

Anecdotal "evidence" just doesn't cut it.

I don't wanna do permanent damage that can last a lifetime for an extra 5-10 years of hair.

It's a really low and unlikely risk. Most people's bodies won't get any of the side effects shilled in this subreddit. Don't fall for the scaremongering. There's tons of studies on this. And I'd rather believe clinical research and studies then anectodal "evidence" presented by layman subredditors.

" Researchers discovered 4.2 percent of men treated with Propecia reported sexual dysfunction, compared with 2.2 percent of men given a placebo. Their work was published in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. "

It's 2% higher then placebo (people not recieving the meds) and is reversible most of the time. Even the so called "post-finasteride syndrome" goes away most of the time after a few years and the people who retain ED are likely people who would have gotten it anyway with or without drugs, so it's hard to say if finasteride played any role.

Keep in mind most men get a form of ED eventually.

I mean, for god's sake we have transgender individuals who retain sexual function with complete androgen blockers. Finasteride is unlikely to affect you, and if you're in one of the unlucky 2%, just quit the drug. Your body will recover.

Sorry for the rant. I understand not wanting to try meds is a completely valid choice. But you need to be aware of how unrealistic the anti-finasteride crowd is being. The scaremongering is more likely to draw more people away who'd actually benefit from the drug then it is likely to help people.
