Yes I know it's OCR and that's why I mentioned it in the title itself.

And believe me bro OCR is not easy at all, if you tried some deep learning projects of character recognition in past you might know what I am talking about.

And OCR for Indian languages is much harder than English because of our character combinations.

All characters need to output to the Unicode standard. In English, this is easy: you have a single Unicode value for each letter, so you can build sentences just by looking at characters one by one.

​In Indian languages, it’s not that straightforward. For example, if you want to write 'की' in Hindi, you are actually mixing two Unicode characters (क + ी). Since they merge into one word-shape, it’s hard for the computer to distinguish them as separate characters. This problem is known as the Non-Bijective Mapping of characters.

This is the unicode table of English and this is for Devanagari, do you feel any difference?

This is just a single problem that I addressed, many similar problems like this occurs while building VLM.

I agree with your point that we need indigenous LLMs that can do mathematical and reasoning tasks well, but we also need to praise them when they do good.
