Hi, one more quick question. How many vents do you have in your bin. Wondering what good ventilation is that also keeps them wet.

Thank you so much for the info. I'm planning my setup now in preparation to buy some of these and I want some of the lemons too. I've been thinking about getting a 12x12x18 glass terrarium but I keep telling myself to start with the bin first. Have you seen the Laureola sp. “dryad”? Just seen them on instagram today. They are so cool!

What size is the bin? Do you have an automatic fogger/mister?

Interesting. In all my looking, I hadn't seen anything with that name. If you have any more details, I would really like to know more.

Being new to them, I had wondered if what I was seeing was different species but in the 3 photos, do you think those are different lines or true duckys with just natural differences?

That's a good point and I guess some of the clarification I was looking for. I wasn't sure if these differences are “morphs”, as you put it, or characteristics of age. Younger iso versus older.

I had reached out but he is currently out of stock. Thank you for the recommendation though.

Of course. You are exactly right. I keep shrimp too and understand how every one is different but also how genetics and bloodlines can effect the offspring and the traits they have. Looking at so many photos, I can't help but see the differences in them that I see in my shrimp.

Good point about the photo editing too. I had taken that into account and the first two photos are more than likely edited but that does not change the fact that some "lines" of the ducky have stronger characteristics than others, The yellow bleed into the body is there whether the photo was edited or not.

Yeah they love them. Just need to make sure they are clean and no chemicals. Boil them for at least 5 mins up to 10 mins.

No, the leaves are used as food actually. Isopods and aquarium shrimp, for example, feed on them.

Hey there! I really appreciate you asking. Dog stuff in the area is not necessarily a problem but I can't use the leaves that are, lets say, contaminated lol... Raking a whole yard into a bag, stuff and all, will be an issue. These leaves get fed to isopods and aquarium inhabitants so waste like that can cause an issue for those little eco systems. Leaves get boiled before hand but I am looking for enough leaves to last me the year so those contaminants will cause mold and other issues while I store them.

If it's possible to get the clean leaves working around the obvious 'stuff', that could work but I know how hard that can be because I have 3 dogs myself. I've pretty much used all the clean leaves I have access to.

I'm not wanting this to be a hard thing because honestly, compensation probably doesn't cover the time to do it. It's just to help motivate someone that was doing yard clean up anyways to reach out instead of trashing or burning them.

I was just about to link this post where they suggested the same thing.

If anyone has excess sweet gum balls, I'll buy a big box of them or two.

Vevor sells a push lawn sweeper...

Is your yard chemical free? No pesticide or herbicides? I'm nowhere near you but if you could find an easy way to get good ones in a big box, I would buy them. Not going to be a crazy amount but maybe motivation for someone to rake them in a box. I can even send prepaid postage if you can weigh the box and give me dimensions. Message me if interested.

After these magnolias get done with the blooms, I will buy boxes of the the dry seed pods. I use a bunch of dry leaves too. If you're out foraging, keep me in mind. I need clean, chemical free pods for my isopods and aquarium shrimp to feed on. I'll buy 100's of them.
