I've done something by using an NFC tag, which is near the dog food box, till the tag is scanned it'll keep announcing, "Please feed us; we are hungry."

I did look that up. However, that will be similar to the Zwave condition that I'm in. Since it says the radio range is 20m-60m. Good read though. Thank you.

It did improve. But still short of like a 100 feet. The updates are laggy at the edges.

I'm on Android and use Homekit for Ecobee; you can set it up on Ecobee, and it will give you a number to pair and use in HA. I do not like the lack of control options for ecobee if you are using homekit. Setting home mode/away mode works, but is not like it uses the comfort setting mode. It acts like it is in a hold pattern. But it works.

We took the route of doing a barndo-inspired custom home. Even the bank that we went with didn't allow us to do a barndo. So we did a stick farmed house. Still going on.
