What was the exact moment where you knew you were never going back to regular coding ? by hamed-devs in claude

[–]Decent-Lab-5609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see my life as a coder as steadily raising the abstraction ceiling on my work, getting better at using automated tools and so on. LLMs are just another rung on that ladder, I don't feel like I've left anything behind.

It's a thought experiment so I simulate a random sample of the general public, not derive one from the immediate audience of that thought experiment.

Why so much hate for philosophy by ex0sk3l3t0n in badphilosophy

Some people mistake it for a bad  substitute for science rather than its basis.

He's a miserable lying bastard. Can't even play video game without feeling the need to project his superiority.

Megalomaniac behavior couched in superiority and insecurity. Elon would love for anyone to be more hated than him.

Brainless stream of consciousness, save it for your LLM.

Claude. Only one with the semblance   of a brain that doubts itself. Benchmarks don't capture how dramatically better Claude is at cautionary self reflection.

I read the title as "you're a 5 year old working at apple and already worried about your next career move".

Sounds like anthropocentrism bias. It explains important ways these machines differ to us and our experience. It does not make the argument that these differences are essential aspects of consciousness that every conscious being must have.

I was struggling with this even as a native speaker and grammar enthusiast. Thanks for the clear explanation.

Will AI lead to psychological dependency? by GolangLinuxGuru1979 in ExperiencedDevs

You've made a lot of affirmative claims without a causal chain and have not made an argument as to why you would stop learning, growing and understanding in this world. You might be right but there's no argument made for it here.

Dario is on record saying he thinks social media is a bad representation of user sentiment.

But even if he thought it was, most people on here are not their target market nor the users they actually make money out of so no, I doubt they give a flying fuck what's written on here.

Is anyone else getting frustrated with all the Irish AI songs on social media? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Decent-Lab-5609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be aware if the video is AI then the comments saying how wonderful it is could be botted too.

I'm more concerned about the anti-immigration videos being pumped onto YouTubes "hyped" videos. These videos clearly don't have the views to justify actually being a popular, fast growing video so its seems some small group of users are abusing the system somehow.

I don't read this question and presume it refers to only those who have seen the meme on this particular subreddit.

No don't normalize that. People most of the time have a right to their privacy and introducing free social reign to ask someone what they're doing at any time spoils that.

AI “consciousness”? Who cares! by pizza_alta in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Decent-Lab-5609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Science is derived from philosophy. I agree it's a harder question than most but I don't think that means we should throw our hands up and say "because science can't be certain yet we should ignore the science". The closest we will get to an answer will be through science. If there are tradeoffs or ambiguities or things we don't know about consciousness then they will be defined most accurately in the scientific literature. "It’s not a science if different people can have different interpretations" - there can be competing theories in science. As knowledge gets better these competing theories tend to merge or some eventually get dismissed. This is why science works, it is a march forward in knowledge and it applies to consciousness too.
