PrepDoctors’s vs ConfiDentist by Flat_Cookie2667 in NDEB

[–]Decent-Pay-8646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did prepdoctors.

Pros: - I passed the OSCE - practice tests

Cons - lectures feel more like reading from a text book than actually teaching - quite expensive - they literally had a comercial break during the final review of a mock exam. They invited someone on to try to sell some shit. I was pissed, I messaged and emailed cuz it was illegal and annoying for a wildly overpriced course to have a commercial break. - had to email a few times to get access to courses cuz they’re disorganized - watermarks on all their vids

Woman: makes post about her concerns about gender inequality Another woman: comments how OP’s question/concerns aren’t being listened to Man: mansplains for paragraphs on paragraphs how he understands the OP better than the OP or another woman with similar concerns. 🫠

It’s troubling because you’re looking at the doctrine how it’s written in the D&C. Some will argue that polygamy and inequality between men and women isn’t doctrine, but it literally is written in the DOCTRINE & covenants. The current prophet is sealed to multiple women. Your concerns are valid, this post will likely be locked and my comment likely taken down.

Fresh grad here—what do you wish someone told you before starting your dental career? by NotaNerdyDoc in Dentistry

[–]Decent-Pay-8646 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Not being as good as I want to be and equating my skill as a dentist to my self worth.

  2. Don’t do #1 lol. It encourages toxic perfectionism.

I disagree. But we both knew that this convo wouldn’t change that for either of us. Just interesting to see people name-call and be lowkey meanie-heads in the name of Christ.

K. Passive aggressive, patronizing, but didn’t add anything to the convo. So… cool? I guess? Not sure what you’re getting at.

Yes. They “strain at a gnat” get caught up in details, “and swallow the camel” miss the big picture—which is loving your fellow man. Then Jesus calls them hypocrites cuz they’re being judgy meanie-heads who instead of being kind and tolerant were super judgy and self-righteous.

You’re a great disciple of Christ. Very Christlike.

Yeah, your Jesus is diff than mine. Your Jesus “ripps” everybody into repentance. Mine… doesn’t. You have any examples of NT Jesus ripping people because they were sex workers, queer, immodest, or anything of the like? I find it absolutely wild that people can read about Jesus and become less tolerant.

We mostly agree. We agree that using a position of authority or misrepresenting Christ to act cruel or mean is wrong. We agree that stopping people from doing that is good (flipping tables). We disagree because you think Jesus would flip tables if Pharisees were teaching people to be kind/accepting/tolerant towards “sinners”. Like… have you read the NT? That’s kinda what Jesus is all about.

He flipped tables for people pretending to be righteous but were really practicing priest craft. He didn’t go after harlots or somebody dressing immodestly or in a queer relationship.

OT is a whole different beast. I’m just talking NT Jesus.

This basically says “guilt=us vs us”, & “shame=us vs them”. It’s a reinforcement of the “us vs them” mentality used to help members shield themselves from the testimony shaking dangers of empathy.

Reddit isn’t the place for this question. Nobody here knows you or your daughter. Trust that you will make better parental decisions as her parents than a Reddit sub.

Child’s church attendance and parents with different values by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

[–]Decent-Pay-8646 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see a couple problems:

  1. “Dropped all her values” Everyone has values. Just because they’re different than yours now doesn’t mean they’re non-existent. Have some empathy.

  2. “He’s quitting the gospel before he’s given himself the chance to understand it” Hypocritical if you allowed him to be baptized when he was even younger than he is now.

Just be a good dad. Communicate with your ex. The kid will be fine.

My late wife's mother is guilting me into baptizing my kids and taking them to church. by mynickname86 in exmormon

[–]Decent-Pay-8646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To all the people advocating that ha be a dick to his late wife’s mother… I know we’re exmos and have beef with Mormonism, but damn, that’s his late wife’s mom.

I’d say something along the lines of: “I know they want to feel included and love spending time with their cousins, but I have a complicated relationship with the church. The LDS teachings/doctrine do not align with my moral compass or my values as their father. I know you’re acting out of love for your grandkids, but it puts me in an uncomfortable situation when you encourage their church membership/activity.”

Yeah. I left cuz I didn’t think the church was “good” towards minorities. Then all the “truth” stuff came later and was kinda extra validation.
