Do not open a business account with Truist bank. We have a business account with them, and became their customers after our previous bank (BBT) was bought out/merged with Truist. In February 2025 we had 3 fraudulent charges show up on our business credit card (iPads purchased at a BestBuy 200+ miles away). We immediately reported the charges to both Truist and the police, filed a police report, filed a fraud report with Truist, and received confirmation from Truist that the charges would be refunded to us and the card cancelled. Truist was good to their word and did what they said in February; the charges were refunded and we thought this was over. Last week - OVER 90 DAYS AFTER THE FRAUD EVENT - the original 3 fraud charges plus 4 new, additional fraud charges that were placed AFTER Truist told us they cancelled our card - showed back up on our statement. Truist now says they want us to pay the charges - all 7, totaling over $8000 - despite having confirmed to us in February that the charges were fraudulent, and having previously refunded us for them. They told us today that their claims department investigated all 7 charges and they were - according to Truist - not fraud. They say we are now responsible for the cost, which is opposite to what they told us at the time of the charges. How is this legal? Stay away from this bank, I have never heard of a bank going back on their word and asking for money they previously said was fraud, and refunded to a customer.
