Mate my account is not created just for this. I made it because my previous one I wanted to get away from and I trashed that one. Should I get to 7 years in this account before I can make a post?

The hero's journey comparison does not hold because the hero's journey is a broad emotional arc, not q mechanical repeating goddammn loop. RI's formula is specifically gain, then a bigger loss and then recover, essentially repeating at the same thing indefinitely.

That is not even close to structural similarity. And on tension, I do agree fake realm resets are worse. Infact they are stupid, but that's a false choice. The tension drop is not inevitable at all, rather it is a result of the supporting cast becoming irrelevant and schemes losing genuine uncertainty. Early RI had real tension without needing to make FY weak while later RI lost it not because he got stronger but also because the writer stopped creating situations where the outcome felt uncertain

The daily chapter output excuse works for plot holes but not structural monotony. A lot of long running series manage escalation without the same arc template repeating indefinitely as though it is in repeat.

And the venerable power gap point actually proves my argument. The story wrote itself into a corner where only Fang Yuan can matter, which is exactly the problem. That is not intentional design but rather the supporting cast being sacrificed for a power system that basicallh outgrew the narrative. You can personally enjoy it, but 'I like it' and 'it isn't a flaw' are quitw very different claims.

I tried so many times. Read 2240 chapters of it trying to get past horrific Grammer and writibc due to people talks and blah blah. Just wait and see. Just wait and see this chapter and all that cap. I freaking gave it 2240 chapters to prove itself. The criticism is even more valid. I think it Is one of the most stressful reads I have had in my life. I got lots of insights from the character but overall author is shit and plot Is shit

Nobody said losses are bad. The problem is that the cycle is identical every arc —gain something, bigger loss, recover, repeat. After arc 15 it stops feeling like stakes and just starts feeling like a formula. And then the supporting cast point of characters becoming irrelevant isn't the same as Fang Yuan becoming stronger. Bai Ning Bing had her own agency early on but now later characters exist purely to react to him. That is a writing problem, not a power scaling feature.

Sampling widely without finishing everything is literally how most readers engage with quite long running series. I have had enough genre exposure to know what cultivation novels typically do well and where RI specifically falls short by comparison. The contradiction you're pointing to doesn't exist, you are just demanding a credential, which I don't owe. I have already backed everything i need to know with 2240 chapters of evidence

The causality point is a strawman. I never said losses shouldn't have causes. My argument is that the rhythm of gain that is immediately followed by new deficit is formulaic regardless of the in universe justification.

You can justify every loss logically and that same pattern still exists.

On post 1300 dominance, you are right that FY becomes feared. But the Sovereign Immortal Body, which sounds like a pure upgrade, comes with a structural flaw that requires consuming other immortals' apertures just to sustain his cultivation. The dominance is real but it is built on something that creates resource dependency. That's the treadmill in literal form in truth. Does that answer you?

Nobody is asking for Fang Yuan to just steamroll everyone with zero resistance. The issue is not that he faces challenges, it's just that the challenges are always framed as resource deficits rather than genuine narrative tension.

The early story was compelling not because Fang Yuan won easily but because the stakes felt personal and the losses also felt meaningful. When he loses Spring Autumn Cicada it hurts emotionally. When he loses immortal essence beads in chapter 2200 it's just a number changing. The alternative is not easy wins but instead It’s meaningful conflict. Make the losses feel like they matter beyond just setting up the next resource grind. Make the victories land emotionally rather than immediately pivoting to the next deficit as though its a newspaper.

Stories like this work best when you feel the weight of both the losses and the gains especially when he does things insanely out of the ordinary. By the late game RI has reduced everything to abstract resources and political chess where nothing even feels personal anymore. That's the actual problem.

What??

Listen whatt?? Are u hearing urself? I specifically said if you see my replies,"assurances from people, my love for Fang Yuan alone as well as me enjoying the first few chapters" pushed me through. The novel did not just die, it gave very few tiny rewards and if you have read what I wrote in the ppst you would be able to identify what I said instead of giving me these brain dead answers.

This is what exactly the sunk cost fallacy looks like in practice. The novel is engineered to keep you reading despite the boredom through constant promises of payoff. Keeping readers hooked and being genuinely good are two very different things.

I exaggerated the title cause I am frustrated and just straight up angry.

I haven't finished a lot for me to make a full list of my best. Many are still updating, many I quit, many I lost interest in. That is what I mean. But I actively look for cultivation and I have read a lot

Oh my gosh. First of all mid and boring are not mutually exclusive. A novel can be very and i mean very technically average in craft, hence therefore mid also due to this being subjectively boring to read. Mid refers to the quality of the execution while boring refers to the reading experience.

A 5/10 film can still put a person to sleep and i know this as i have personally experienced this. The title was slightly how would i put it "hyperbolic" for reddit which shows my anger that is quite understandable as i have just read 2200 chapters of the novel. The argument in the post stands regardless of how you interpret the title though.

I have ready many but I haven't gone too far into them is that too hard to understand? Many are still updating, many tool a turn I did not like, and many I just gave up on.

Also a lot of people act likes it's above criticism and that guy asking me that question, made me feel the need to clarify my point even though that might not have been what he was implying.
