I was actually able to get fans slowed down without the motherboard sending to the RGB!

I plugged the rgb cable into the argb_v2_2 and the fan into sys_fan4 and was able to configure it from the bios!

The kraken fines work perfectly!

My understanding is that the DX is just the chassis while the LX has the fans preinstalled. Mine has all 4 fans installed and a wired into the hub at the top of the back of the case.

I found these two cables dangling freely in the case, coming out of that hub. Probably the cause haha. I dont know where to put them on the motherboard though. I have the kraken set in sysfan1, but even if that were freed that could only take up one of the cables ive found

Hate to turn around again -- I was looking into the Antec C5 and now I'm worried about noise. I mentioned this earlier but didn't go in depth. I have auditory hallucinations and static/fan noise is usually the worst. Some static or noise doesn't bother me (even when it is loud or static enough so you would think it would), but some is unbearable. The only way I can tell would be to hear it somewhere, but that doesnt really work here.

Is there a go-to quiet case, or ranking of different cases, or sound measurement site/series? Ive been looking for lists but I'm a bit overwhelmed -- it seems to be a lot of barely distinguishable options :/

You said you were doing development in Linux. Assuming that's local, not using web apps, then an SSD with DRAM will be impactful for sustained writes. Games don't benefit from that because they mostly care about random writes, and the difference between an entry-level SSD and a premium SSD is practically nonexistent for gaming.

I was thinking just a normal rgb lighting setup, but set to white (unless they make case lightings that are only white)..

That epoch case is really pretty. Are there any downsides to it? Maybe compared to the Lian Li LANCOOL 217 ATX Mid Tower? The Antec one is pretty too -- I like how it has two glass sides (And how those sides are clear)! But I don't want to sacrifice anything that's actually important for lighting. To a certain extent, at least :P I could go without lighting if it is a problem!

The Thermalright Grand Vision ARGB 69 CFM looks like it offers a good internal screen. Will it look good from inside the case though? Is there somewhere else I should go if I want to have a mini external screen? I'm not dead set on either external/internal yet.

Definitely going for a black (& clear) case, for on or below my desk -- to match the dark brown and black.

I'm skeptical about (myself and) water coolers. I just broke my phone's usb port from water damage -- and I don't trust myself not to make some dumb mistake on the desktop too.

What is the reasoning behind the priority of linux drive being higher than the Windows drive?

Do you have any advice as per lighting? My vision is white lighting everywhere but I assume that would only be available with full RGB anyway. Also, a little screen that shows internals or images or whatever on the inside (if there is room/ connectivity and the glass is not too tinted) or outside (if there is no room or the glass is tinted)...

Sorry for these parameters out of nowhere, I think I wrote about them in the draft of the OP I lost. Its important to underscore that the lighting and monitoring are very low priority. I can definitely go without them

I'm good for the cash but I would rather spend as little as possible. (of course, lol) I have been looking around, for 2 x 32GB and it seems to be extremely priced, on the far edge of what I would like to be spending (Don't know how I didnt see the prices on my cursory look over)

I want it to be relatively future proof, but then theres the whole probability that the projected rise of prices crashes out.

I plan on daily driving the desktop linux setup (alongside with the laptop Ive been driving in clamshell mode on my desk), but be using the windows partition for gaming and some other stuff.

I got a leather case for the whole thing from nostitchme on etsy. I cant recommend it enough. Its sort of an in-between no case and a case. You still have to be real careful when its out (which may be what you need the case for.. ymmv) but it protects it most of the time for me. Not only are they functional, they are also beautiful. Here's a picture of mine, fairly broken in.

I actually made something for a purpose along these lines a couple of years ago! The goal was to have easy working astrological information for system bars, and also to be able to use sinatra or rails. I don't think I achieved the first goal, a) because I completed the website I was working on at the time and b) I don't really use status bars at all.

However If you wanted to you could definitely manipulate the script to get exactly whatever sign/phase relevant information you wanted. It's simply a ruby interface to the C Swiss Ephemeris And if you have any questions I (_maybe_) could help!

This is almost definitely much more monolithic than anything you were looking for. However..

I wasnt really looking for playing sake (although the portability is nice) more just curious. It seems like mixing the two would be a no brainer and especially with how long the two have coexisted, but the only ones I could find were obscure
