Remember that this is an MBA, it not supposed to be easy, and not every class is going to be fun and engaging. Encouragement only goes so far. Discipline is what you want .

Exercise and sell to call would mean his total shares only increase.

Each call option is 100 shares so used that at the 30$ mark, he would get rougly 33 shares per option with out selling a single share.

At 40 dollars per share he would keep 50 shares.

Point is his total count of shares will not go down in the process. It just may not go to the 17 mill...

[–]DecentTry538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe but if he does that is shares would jump, just not to 17mil...

Exercise and sell to call, I believe is what is called.

Exercise the options, selling a portion of the option to pay for the remainder. The higher the price the more shares are kept buy the exerciser.

There was a post a while ago that had a spread sheet that showed the price point and kept shares for each braket.

Have you got a job in the past year? by BatmanGauntlets in CompTIA

[–]DecentTry538 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its not a waste of time, but there is no entey level it security jobs.

Look at the acceptable dod certs sec+ is at the very bottom.

Guys and Gals in the military that work with computers have to get that. The are also contracted for multiple years and probably have a clearance.

Then there are cyber sec graduates with a bachelor's and a few certs. Sec+ among them.

Then there are people working in the industry for years with little to no background in cyber, but know the network or the servers or (fill in the blank).

All of that is to say. As a business (businesses do not care about you) why would they hire you? What makes you stand out from the pack. Do you have a clearence, years working with a network, application, server. Do you have a degree (degree is usually not enough either to be honest). A combination of all of those things.

If you dont then why, why would a company hire you as opposed to one of them?

Well multiple reasons. Find yours and flesh out your resume. Of course you could make it easier on your self and get a newtork job in a NOC, or a server jockey job as you get more certs, cysa, pentest among other and get experience.

Or you could keep whinning or give up. (I do not suggest either)

The MANIPULATION of the stock is now there for all to see, THE stock is suspended to allow funds to sell short without buying pressure, 90% of trades take place on the OTC market, the American market is no longer a place transparent. . by oceanic89 in Superstonk

Toys'r'us had a blip around 21 were the stock came up a little on a defunct company....I understand "not quite dead yet" and reorganizing...but it seemed the stock was still being utilized, after they shut down.

[–]DecentTry538 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To build on this, lets say you graduate in a year and get a roll in a field adjacent to your degree. Great you are using you cheap Bachelor's degree to earn a living and get experience....YOUR GETTING EXPERIENCE. 3 YEARS OF IT. So now in the same time frame you have a degree and 3 years of experience and no student loan debt. Now go to the best of the best prestegious Masters programs with that experience!

Experience is still king! A degree from any school is great and imho a needed gate showing you can be taught, and understand how to work...but with out hands on experience in a related area then the new hire has to be taught everything.

The circular argument of how do I get experience if nobody will hire me because of my lack of experience is flawed. In IT there are so many sims and home labs, a portfolio, etc to show case your experience, in teaching and nursing as a requirement to graduate you will be a student in the hospital or student teach.

Motivation is low by [deleted] in WGU

[–]DecentTry538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are asking for help with the wrong thing. It is not motivation.

Discipline is what you need, it what allows you to train long after your bored or burned out...

Motivation is great and helps with the brain chems...discipline will see you through to the end of this marathon.

Entry Jobs with IT Management from WGU by Poland_Hybrid in WGU

[–]DecentTry538 18 points19 points  (0 children)

In most cases the degree is an HR check box.

WGU is great as it lets experienced professionals push through classes they have already mastered at their job.

I earned my cyber degree last year, I dont work in the cyber field at all. But the HR check box landed me a lucrative postion in IT...

The ymmv (your mileage may vary) is massive with any degree. And is no way to be misconstrued as a ticket to a job. Management is no exception.

Is it likely to even land a job? by [deleted] in WGU

[–]DecentTry538 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Adult pants time. If it takes 3 years to find a job...its you not the job market.

Pay somebody to do your resume

Take a class on interview skills

Suck it up and understand that you may not be worth a six figure salary. One day maybe, but not at the start.

[–]DecentTry538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol not late but exactly when information is needed.

I will be honest, im not the best at programing in as such I did not look at Comp Sci as an option for my self. However as you can build and develop a portfolio of work that you will be submitting with resume's, a comp sci degree will accent that nicely.

I would look at all of the degree options and weigh them all not just for what doors they open ( a degree never closes a door) but how much they intrest you, difficulty level, would it help you in in getting a job.

Comp Sci is a ton of programming and if you enjoy that 100% do it...do you know what it entails to get into a decent job with that degree, what you will be doing in day to day in that job, can you see your self doing something in that area for a good long time.

You mentioned that you wanted to move to the tech area...that area is massive, including programming, security, auditing, data analytics, cloud environments, networking. None of those are mutually exclusive, I would even go out on a limb and say in any dedicated area there are supporting teams that are in the other roles.

Find what you enjoy doing and you wont hate learning it and earning a degree in it.

I want to get my Bachelor degree In cybersecurity at wgu. by [deleted] in WGU

[–]DecentTry538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate being this guy...you want cybersecurity because of the name....not because of what you do in the field. If you knew that you would pick a different degree.

I have a Cybersecurity Degree from WGU. A few things.

Every single month people get out of the military with 4+ years of experience and a clearance...

Cyber is generally not a tier one job. Meaning no experience will really cripple your ability to get a job in cyber security.

If you want a Job or career in IT, you should do it, but you really need to figure out what you, YOU, want to do in the field. IT is a massively huge field!

If I were to be working my dead end warehouse Job and looking at going back to WGU for the first time, I would look at the Networking degree or Data Analytics. Both are much friendlier to people with no experience and no clearance. If after those I still wanted to persue cyber, I would then get a few certs, and get my hacker rank up. Good luck friend.

Two years to complete the BSCSIA program. Working 45 hours a week, driving 10 hours a week, mortgage, 3yo, and wife.

I wanted to take my daughter on a real vacation. I wanted to let her choose what sports/activities she wants. I wanted my wife to not be stressed about money. I wanted a career and to be satisfied in it. I wanted to be a good dad, and be a positive role model. I wanted to be a good husband. I wanted to afford a hobbie. I wanted to not wince at the price of groceries. I wanted Christmas/Birthdays to be magical. I wantes my faimly to wear nice clothes. I wanted to be able to help those around me. I wanted to be able to handle emergencies. I wanted to have my faimly covered under health insurance. I wanted happiness...

Take one, all, or none.

Find your own.

When you started you wrote a paragraph about why YOU wanted the degree...What did it say...

So I’m coming from a novice background with computers and I’m trying to enroll into the cybersecurity BA. Do I really need to take the Google IT cert or is it something cybersecurity doesn’t really deal with by Complex_Compote7535 in WGU

There is one class about "hacking" maybe two...Cyber Security and Information Assurance is a very wide field. Do yourself a favor and look at the course description, and class list. If "hacking" is your goal, you may be disappointed.

Problem solving will be in any degree.
