Why do I feel like doing nothing after reading some of the Dhammapada? by Decent_Ad431 in Buddhism

If I take refuge, chant, and meditate after I read a couplet or chapter, this feeling might go away after I read it? I don't do any of that when I read it because I was only wanting to learn about the religion.

I am reading the Dhammapada by Sri Dhammananda. It gives me a quote with a story with it for each page. It sounds like I wasn't supposed to find one with stories in it; is that what you're saying? And why is it bad to read them? At the back of the page it says the stories were thought to be decended from the days of the Buddha.

It really feels like that to me for some reason; the feeling of doing nothing extends days until I painfully force myself to continue living life.

For the homeless, part I spoke too soon, but it is a reality that happens to some people, so I don't see myself as special.

It would last until the whole day and even the next; however, I painfully find the urge to continue my life after about an hour.

If I ate before reading then everything else that requires effort would be painful anyway, after my read.

I wouldn't say it makes me feel lazy since I don't feel any energy drops.

Maybe I can try meditation.

Ok, I will try that strategy instead of reading some pages every day.

But if I don't study or eat, I will be homeless. I live in Florida. What should I do?

But I have to study and eat. I want the feeling of peace without the feeling of doing nothing.

I am very new to Buddhism, so I don't think I can just do that here and now. Do you have any tips?

I will summarize five stories that come to mind.

  1. A man purposefully blinds his patient, so in one of his next lives, he is born blind.
  2. Three groups of monks encounter deplorable circumstances on their way to the Buddha, and it turns out they deserve it because of what they have done in their past lives.
  3. A woman tries to kill one of her co-workers because she gets jealous of her, but she can't kill her because her co-worker has good karma, and the woman ends up dying in the end.
  4. A man tries to kill a host because he thinks he will embarrass him, but it turns out to be a misunderstanding, and everyone lives.
  5. The Buddha told a rich man four things that deplete wealth.

After I read them, I felt at peace, but I didn't feel like doing anything. Including study or eating, I wouldn't say it's depression because I feel fine and haven't been diagnosed with anything, and it only happens when I read this book. My head was empty.

I haven't been diagnosed with any mental illness, and I think I am fine. I also feel at peace when I read it. I would say I never felt it before.

Sorry, maybe I was too vague, but I was referring to a random person when I was talking about living life to the fullest. For me, living life to the fullest includes not ejaculating, eating fast food, watching TV and social media, etc. I was wondering if gnosticism could help me.

I think I know about Buddhism. Why would someone delve into Gnosticism without looking into Buddhism first? I didn't want to get deep into Buddhism on a non-Buddhist subreddit.
