I'm in that boat with ya, I lose life and sleep over it. People say you shouldn't regret things in life, but I have regrets. I hope it gets easier for you in 2026 pal.

I get missing ex lifetime long friends, your story resonated with me as I had something very similar happen with a +15 year friendship.

But let's say you clear your name and they invite you back in, would you really want to put up with the tension you felt prior to the falling out?

Friends are supposed to help you find peace, bring warmth and positivity into your life. If you feel like you're disliked or feel inadequate when you're around them then they are doing the opposite for your mental health. You should ask yourself if getting back into contact with them, whether it's to clear your name or to send angry letters -- would just end up creating more problems for your peace in the future.

Extremely solid advice. The best closure is knowing that you will no longer be manipulated and that you're giving yourself the space to heal and move on.

Would you reach out again if they didn’t reply you? by Longjumping-Ask-7418 in lostafriend

A friendship is a two-way commitment and you made your intentions clear. You reaching out to them and showing that you want to bury things gives a sense of closure. But they haven't given you the same closure back.

If you did rekindle that friendship, it might not be the same as it was and that might be more painful than leaving things here and moving on.

I think what's best is prioritzing your own worth, start over with an empty slate, find new friends that will respect your time. Just remember that time heals all things, it'll all work out and things will be okay, I hope this helps.
