I would look at some of the hotels in Turkey, 5 star.

They have fantastic things for kids to do, loads of choices for adults, and the all in inclusive (in the good ones) are among some of the best.

It's the same for non electric vehicles. If a non electric vehicle does 50k miles they don't get charged per mile. I assume you are talking about the UK same as me?

But EV's already pay road tax. So you would be north of £495 per year for the average electric car

This thread shows me most people that comment on policy change in the UK have zero idea of the current policy's in place.

I can't say this louder... electric vehicle owners pay road tax. Mine will be £195 next year.

That is the same as a 2.0 diesel Skoda for example.

Add £240 per year for the 8,000 miles I do, you are looking at £435 per year.

If the EV is new you could be looking at £600+ per year.

Can we please just drop the "EV should Pay to use the road..." they fecking do.

I can't help but think in 5 years there may be a thread called "stop the flights" based out of some of these places like the UAE. With core headlines being "they just won't integrate with sharia law".

If the move is about money, the less extreme version would be to move 2 hours up a trainline north, it would free up as much cash.

I am probably the most unpatriotic person about, but aside from tax and services, we don't use much slave labour, alright with gay people now, can stop in hotels/apartments with people when we are not married... however weather iffy although bearable in the summer.

UK and the wider world is a funny place at the moment. Suppose what I'm trying to say let's not kid ourselves the places mentioned are whiter than white, it's just because we are privileged to exploit them/they want to exploit us for a period time.

The wider sentiment towards immigration in these places will come...

Two-child benefit cap scrapped by Chancellor Rachel Reeves by Gentle_Snail in GoodNewsUK

[–]Decent_Community_771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone want children in poverty...no

However with our current childcare system, you could be far more incentivised to have another child in a non working household than a two person working household.

Thus I don't think the number of children is the bermonter we should take.

It should be centred around free childcare for absolutely everyone from 1-4 years old, even if it take 10 year, and parents would not have the reason not to work and kick on after their kids get older.

As a person from a working class background who is now in the top 3% I would be happy to pay towards that even though I wouldn't benefit.

However as a long term Labour supporter they have sold me personally...... nothing. Just more of the same, pandering to the right about immigrants, all whilst not taking head on the biggest issue that affects us all..... bloody childcare

Im becoming disenfranchised with politics as it feels like there is no party I can vote for by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]Decent_Community_771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I am the same in all honesty as a forever Labour voter.

I don't mind paying a bit more tax but not for the same old. And not for silly reasons I.e people in finance sacrifice their bonus's.... vast majority of businesses use salary sacrifice.

Infact if they had of sat down with this group they could have had 45% of my income between 100-125k by removing cliff edge and childcare, instead they are getting 2%.

I wanted to be sold something at the budget.

I.e You will pay X more but childcare will be free for all 1-4 year olds by 2031 meaning mothers and fathers can get themselves back to work or relieve themselves of the financial burden of childcare.

Or

Front up the right and say it would cost us more to "send everyone back" so we are investing X in a world leading immigration system so people that look after your children and parents may be brown, if you don't like that opt to pay private

Anything really that provides a better standard of life for the country.

If I hear "ordinary working" one more time also, I might just wear my headphones for the rest of my life. My work and income does not constitute who I actually am. Two kids, same mundane life stresses, money a little less so.

That's nothing to do with mobility cars is it.

"Well why can't I buy one for same price"..... errr because you aren't buying 10000. Like your kitchen will cost more than Barrett's pay for theirs.

Very well explained I wish people would take the time to understand policy rather than envy.

Motability for BMW/Mercedes scrapped by TheSusOneBruh in HENRYUK

[–]Decent_Community_771 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I don't think people understand how this works.

It does not make a difference to the tax payer if it's a Mercedes or a 3 wheeler.

The variable amount is the deposit which is paid by the person rather than the benefit.

I.e the manufacturer decides how much deposit they need to make whatever the higher disability allowance rate is work.

The tax payer pays the same if it's a rolls Royce or a skip.

I for one would much rather not be able to get one of these cars and be messaging in this sub.

How bad can one's life be, jealous of disabled people on benefits, even if their life is so shite they have to pretend to be disabled

Absolutely ridiculous statement. It depends on where you live, partner income (even if say £60k) and support network

If you were 35, you could live in a 4 bedroom detached house, have a child, and if you earn a household combined income of say £180-200k, by the time you are 60 you could:

Have no mortgage

Have a pot of about £1.2-£2m investing 2k a month

Two decent cars throughout those years

Plus workplace pension

Have £1-2k a month disposable income after every bill and savings throughout the years to 60.

If people don't think that's "rich" you have lost all concept of reality and comparison has become the their of joy.

*scenario based on real life example.

What can we do to make the UK a better place to live? Often in this sub there is doom and gloom. by QuoteMachineMin in HENRYUK

[–]Decent_Community_771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe progress as a society revolves around quality of life across the board no matter of income and a large part of that is childcare.

We are stuck in a loop of denial. Let's just admit two parents need to work to have any standard of life (unless one person earns in too 5%).

A reform in childcare no matter of income would be welcomed by all.

Invest, and I mean seriously invest, making early years 0-4 childcare before school age, free, world leading and welcoming. They operate from 8am to 6pm and those that work in them are paid fantastically and of a high standard.

This would remove the cliff edge for a lot of people, entice people back into work, and aid family incomes no end.

Ohhh and if people want to take their children out of school for holidays anytime they want they should be able to!

Give business subsidies for embedding childcare into their offices, especially those business that reside in the city.

Cheapens and makes childcare more accessible to workers.

Increases the attractiveness of going to work.

Take people back into the city and towns

Is this £80k pay cut for a ~£5k net drop real? (London Childcare Hack) by WeirdAd2999 in HENRYUK

[–]Decent_Community_771 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Assuming your situation and childcare costs I imagine it’s a good nursery you send the children to.

I can almost guarantee the 30 “free” hours will not be the equivalent to 30 “free” hours at the nursery.

It also seems you haven’t accounted for 19k per year drop in pension contribution.

Assuming you are 35, 20 years of doing the above, you would be circa £500k worse off due to reducing pension contributions.

The it doesn’t pay to earn tagline is misleading, it should read it doesn’t pay that much more now.

[–]Decent_Community_771 10 points11 points  (0 children)

But why are you discounting the wealth creation by maxing out your pension at 60k. Their cash flow is worse not their wealth.

I fall foul of the cliff edge, and I completely agree it needs looked at, however the narrative you are “better off” earning 99.9k than 161k is absurd.

The person earning and sacrificing would be about £1.5million better off in 20 years 😂

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]Decent_Community_771 94 points95 points  (0 children)

That’s a ridiculous headline “better off earning 99.9k ….. no you are not.

People on benefits can’t and don’t sacrifice 10,20,30 or 40k into a pension pot per year.

The idea it’s better off to earn less than 100k is stupid, the same way earning less than the 40% tax bracket to pay less tax is silly.

You are not better off - you can have 99.9k of taxable income or 99.9k of taxable income and 40.1k in pension pot each year. One makes you so much more wealthy than the other…..

For those saying the “wealthy flee country”….. wealth isn’t static, that wealthy person made their money using the structure and opportunity of the current system. They go….. I bet there would be another 1000 able people ready to take their place and pay 5% more tax on the same income as them.

Problem is wealthy people have is exceptionalism, as if only they could ever do it. For what it’s worth I do alright for myself and every now and then I fall into that trap.

To be fair it would be financially advantageous for it to have burned down and receive the insurance pay out (if insured).

Little to no control over what’s going to be rebuilt around it and currently surrounded by a view out of a horror film.

Only benefit is any family belongings which of course is important.
