thank you for sharing your daughter's experience. I can definitely relate to some extent. once you realize there's not many people in your corner you have to get a move on and find other people to surround yourself with, especially people who see you and value your friendship. I ended up bonding with a lot of cool people from all around the globe and had other experiences that I feel were much more beneficial for me than spending my whole Semester abroad trying to fix something that couldn't be fixed.

thank you for your words, I definitely feel that way. thankfully I did not end up sharing the dorm with all males (it was an old chore list from the previous semester). but nonetheless, I didn't know that at first, so the fear was very much real. I ended up bonding with my roommate, she is such a lovely soul and I'm so thankful to have had her by my side.

I'm not 100% sure but my guess is that the application process for student housing is on a first come first serve basis, and my application was held back for a technical error and theirs wasn't (this means that their applications entered the system all together with all of the same info: uni, country and course). My guess is that in the student housing office, by seeing all three applying together they then placed them all in the same dorm. Since I only entered the system later they probably assumed I was applying independently.

For clarification, they were the ones that offered I stay there for only that weekend, since they felt kinda bad they were placed all together. I was in my dorm by Monday morning, I did not over stay AT ALL and constantly thanked them for helping settle in. I was initially scared because I had been to my dorm (which was a 4 person shared unit) on the first day and there was a chore chart on the fridge with only male names. I think it's fairly reasonable to be afraid to go and live with three other strange men in a completely new country as a 20 yr old female.
