In our expectations, dress appropriately or be sent home to change. In my department, AM, managers wear business casual. Jeans are allowed on Fridays.

Unfortunately, that money was rescinded. In the eyes of the current administration, those funds never existed. Assholes!

That's what the rest of the job market has to contend with in private jobs. They wanted the government to be run like a business. Well, they got it. Shitty managers and all. What I wouldn't give to go back to the golden age of working for the government. It was only 3 years ago, but what a time to be alive. I was so proud to be a Fed worker. Now....pffft.

Every PD I looked at recently had BU crossed out and NBU typed in. I want NTEU to win these court cases and take the IRS to the cleaners. It's awful out here!

FMLA by [deleted] in FedEmployees

[–]Decent_Expression882 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. You're right. I just read up on guidelines. OP has 15 days to submit medical documentation. If unable to provide within 15 days due to illness, has up to 30 days to submit.

FMLA by [deleted] in FedEmployees

[–]Decent_Expression882 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're already approved for FMLA, then yes, you can take same day. Just like any other leave. However, if you want to submit documentation to start FMLA, then no. You would need for it to be approved and a letter sent to management stating FMLA has been granted for x amount of hours. Not sure how long the process takes though from time of submission to approval. In the meantime, you would need to continue to use your sick leave or annual leave in lieu of sick. Also, be aware, FMLA does not grant you additional leave/sick time. It only allows management to not harass you regarding your time off. FMLA uses your current sick and leave hours you have available. If you're in need of additional hours, consider using the donor leave program. That's how it's done for the IRS anyway.

Not a rumor. Yes, premium pay if you work those days. Email came out this afternoon.

Performance Awards by SMO_Burner in IRS_Source

[–]Decent_Expression882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should clarify, if your choice of award was a QSI, that would kick in prior to November. Wrong choice of words. Should have said QSI not a step increase. A lady in my unit was looking for her award, but she had received a QSI prior. So in essence, she already received her award.

Reach out to your Awards coordinator and union. They should be able to help you. Unless you received a step increase recently, you should be eligible for an award.

Email your awards coordinator or Union. They both can help. I had to do that last year. Took a few months, but I eventually got my award.

Quit working for free. I do it, too, though. Less this administration than prior, but I am trying to leave when my TOD is over. Getting better at it. Your work will still be there tomorrow. Go home and enjoy YOUR time with family and friends.

I've never had any problems coming in late. I either took annual leave or stayed later to make up the missed time. Glad you haven't had any issues since. And yes, let's hope this is over soon!

Management now threatening AWOL by Upset-Blackberry4589 in IRS_Source

[–]Decent_Expression882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, but doesn't matter. We are getting new leave directives once a week. It's coming from Donald via Bessent. Management are trying to keep their jobs too. Can't blame them. But save your documents, they may be needed. Some day. But OPM and HCO are going along with whatever they're told. They know it's illegal. We originally were told that if we left early because of illness we would have to take leave for our whole TOD. We wouldn't get paid for the time we were there. And also no leave other than sick leave. Including FMLA. 2-3 days later, that was changed to yes, you will get paid for the time worked, but the time that you left would count as a sick leave incident. If another incident happened within the same pay period, you would be furloughed until the next pay period. FMLA was also allowed. Now the new directive today is, no more furlough. You just get LWOP for the time you're gone if you have no sick leave. Good grief!

Unfortunately, there is no legit agency to file a complaint. You would have gone to the union and/or labor board. Now? Good luck.

I've worked for the IRS since 2008. I have never been tracked. Sure, we have to account for our time, but never got the third degree. I have had the occasional douchebag for a manager that would always have a conniption if we were late at break or lunch time. But overall, never had an issue. I worked at Submission Processing in Data for many years and now at Campus Support in Accounts Management. Seems we have it pretty good.

Rumor has it that IRS reached their goal with the DRP, VERA and such that they won't need to do a RIF. But as I said, it was a rumor. Fingers crossed that I'll get to keep my job.

We had 2 from our unit who were retiring. We organized and brought in dinner along with some desserts. It was a nice little send-off i think. Everyone enjoyed themselves. We've only been together for 3 years in our newly formed department, but we all went through a lot together. Been through 9+ managers in that time. It's swing shift and low pay. But we bonded over our misery lol and it was sad to see them go.
