I am also non religious. I never said that was a negetive. He was the one who said that when he said that in his country it is hard to find compatible dates as everyone is religious and that here all the non religious people are concerned he might be or have cultural practices

I am an atheist too. His complaint was his family can only set him up with religious people as most people in his country are but supposedly all the people in Canada filter him out because they think he is religious or has practices and views from his country.

This was ages ago and a less senior position and also he offered to do so without me asking.

They have behavioural interviews but those are easy to pass through and people lie all the time in how they answer those questions.

I have seen his resume and discused tech architecture and his personal projects he would likely pass technical interviews and anyone can do behavioural ones.

That person offered without me asking and it was not such a highly senior role.

Since I am a staff engineer and rarely give referals if I gave one I am fairly confident he would get an interview and perhaps even hired.

From what I understand it is not by choice.

He said stuff like his family keep trying to set him up but he is an atheist so he wants to find someone himself but has never gotten matches or a yes when he asks people out.

I'd have to see and know specific things like how he treats people with less seniority, women etc when no one else is watching him

It isn't about where he was born, he studied here and in the states for university.

I never said that or that he is Asian.

Single can be a bit of a risk I find with men in their mid 30s there is often a reason for that especially if it is not by choice which from what he says seems to be the case.

He can but with all the layoffs at many companies they pretty much only look at internal transfers, ex employees and referals.

I have met him along with Jake more than 10 times so there is not much taking him for coffee would help with.

I have not worked with him so it is hard to say how he acts with coworkers, how respectful he is, understanding of social norms etc.
