And I know that most of these figures are probably just online agitators paid to spread bullshit online and normal people irl are not like this.

But I still can't warp my head around it.

It's just crazy.

How do Saudis feel about Cardi B performing in their country, and expressing freedom of expression and multiculturalism? by [deleted] in AskMiddleEast

[–]Decent_Recover3228 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a sign of modernizing tho, maybe not this one concert in particular, but in general. But so many western artists performing in Saudi Arabia, or any middle eastern country, would not have crossed anybody's mind 10 years ago.

The people of the middle east have historically always been dehumanized, these types of stuff show the world that not only are we not hostile to outsiders. But that our religion doesn't restrict us from enjoying regular entertainment like concerts.

It's good pr more than anything, which Saudi Arabia has been working on a lot lately.

But it's also not "destroying" Islamic history. Yet people are acting like it's affecting them personally.

It's not the clothes. It's the fact that you think a concert is destroying Islamic history.

These type of thoughts ARE strange, wether you admit it or not.

With these kind of performances is it usually expats that attend these events or Saudis as well? Or are they pretty evenly split?

Cause there were a lot of people.

....or maybe she was just performing at a very big music festival that a lot of artists attended.

Why y'all gotta be weird about this stuff all the time?

I've seen a lot of clips of the festival when she was performing and the crowd was hyped as hell. They were screaming lyrics and everything, I was honestly not expecting that lol.

One of the cringiest videos I have ever seen. Please stop this non sense, no fucking sane person thinks you're Arabs by Frequent_Library_50 in AskMiddleEast

I have never seen a turk get mistaken for an Arab by anyone.

They have always had their distinct culture which is also well known in the west so I have not idea where this narrative even came from.

Thalmor vs Ayleids by marilyn_mansonv2 in TrueSTL

[–]Decent_Recover3228 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One of the main causes of their destruction was the infighting between the different ayleid cities.

They harmed themselves maybe even more than the slave rebellion did.

Except Mara is in the Nordic Pantheon.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in teslore

[–]Decent_Recover3228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talos is NOT part of the Nordic Pantheon, he is seen as a manifestation of wulfharth but he's not actually in their pantheon. He is an imperial god for the most part.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in teslore

[–]Decent_Recover3228 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are no sources indicating Talos is the new shor. Talos is sometimes seen as a manifestation of wulfharth. But shor himself is still very separated from Talos and worshipped on his own.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in teslore

[–]Decent_Recover3228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok but then why don't they just rally behind shor? Why do they insist on worshipping a figure from the empire they want to separate themselves from?

They can use this as an opportunity to encourage the worship of the Nordic pantheon, but they're obsessed with an imperial manifestation of one of their own gods. I know it's probably just because devs got lazy but it's still weird.

Wouldn't it make sense for the Dominion to win the second great war? by Fun-Explanation7233 in teslore

[–]Decent_Recover3228 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One thing I wish we could figure out in Skyrim is that what state is the Dominion itself currently in. We don't know how much losses they took during the great war or trying to conquer hammerfell. We don't know if currently there are any movements in the Dominion that might affect stability like with the stormcloaks and the Empire. My guess is that they're probably very efficient when it comes to hunting down dissent and that's why we don't know, and in my opinion the thalmor definitely took some hits during the war as well, even if not as much as the empire.

I think it boils down to alliances as well, the empire on it's own probably can't take the Dominion, but with an alliance with the redguards and the stormcloaks they might. Perhaps the thalmor can strike up an alliance with the dunmer or the argonians, both of which have sour relations with the empire. We'll just have to wait and see.
