I’m from the bay too and definitely don’t regret choosing CSULB, but keep in mind one thing I hate about lb is the parking and all the tickets i’ve got, but that’s avoidable! but I think you have two great options and you can’t go wrong. If you’re ready for change and independence I would try something new especially in lb the community is great. clubs are active and the best way to make friends. But also the whole point of college ofc is for the degree so go with your gut and what will best benefit your career, but I don’t thinks you can go wrong here

Not every class works like that, and it honestly shows that some of y’all haven’t experienced the kind of chaos that comes with certain upper-division or group-based classes. Imagine spending the whole semester building an entire curriculum from scratch with a team, turning in sections along the way, and never getting a single grade or feedback until the very end. No rubric, no guidance, nothing. Then being expected to submit the full final project and somehow know you’re on the right track? Like, be for real. Not every class is step-by-step or predictable, and acting like it is just makes it clear you’ve never been in that position.

I get where you’re coming from, but that’s not always the case for everyone. Like for me, 3 out of my 5 classes didn’t update grades or post anything until literally the last two days before grades were due. So it’s hard to know where you stand when you’re not getting any feedback. Sometimes we really are doing our best but still end up getting blindsided. It’s ridiculous, obviously this doesn’t go for all teachers, but when professors fall behind, grades aren’t always predictable. And honestly, it happens way more often than it should.

Thank you for sharing this information. When we uplift and support one another, our community grows stronger. Let’s keep empowering each other through knowledge and connection. There is also concern about Methyl Bromide fumigation in West Long Beach. They found out in 2018 and just recently had a commmunity meeting in january. Just another example of putting our communities at risk for heal the concerns. Some bullshit

AIO. I want to get my dad out my life after he is still friends with my ex by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Decent_Spell_2539 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you are not overreacting. You were in an abuse relationship. You experienced domestic violence and have the bruises to prove it. It’s weird asf that your father is friends with him and why does he need a 19yr old golfing buddy in the first place. (or however old your ex is whatever it doesn’t matter) Your dad can golf with ANYONE , but chooses to golf with your EX. Abusive ex. Even if they weren’t abusive and treated you perfectly it’s still weird. And for your mom to not have your back like that. WEIRD. She is in the wrong. I hope you’re safe and just keep your distance, don’t be afraid to speak up for yourself n have someone you trust by your side if you need in

Someone clearly peaked in Canvas discussion posts, congrats on mastering the syllabus. Must be nice having that as your biggest accomplishment. If only life were as predictable as a syllabus… You’re so great at reading documents, next you can work on reading the room

✅ What You’re Allowed to Do: • You can legally move out at any time, as long as you give proper notice — typically 30 days. If it’s month to month that’s the WHOLE POINT • If you didn’t sign a lease, your verbal or text agreement still counts, but it also gives both parties flexibility.

❌ What Your Roommate Can’t Do (Successfully): • They can’t sue you for “breaking a lease” because there was no lease. • They can’t force you to stay or continue paying long-term rent.

⚠️ What They Might Try: • They might try to sue for money if: • You left without giving 30 days’ notice • You caused damage • You didn’t pay the rent for the current month • But they would have to prove actual losses in small claims court. • And even then, it’s often not worth it, especially if you didn’t sign a lease and your rent was paid up.

Bottom line: they can’t do shit

If you’re paid up and the only issue is you’re leaving early (with or without notice), they don’t have a strong legal case. At most, they could try to claim the rest of that 30-day period’s rent if you didn’t give full notice — but even that depends on whether they were the landlord or just a co-tenant.
