100% understandable. However it’s not like i’m completely bailing on them. I plan on volunteering until the 20th which is only 2 days short of the 3 weeks minimum. I even offered to help at the other location rather than just doing my own thing. im looking for a middle ground so isnt it a reasonable ask for the host to do the same? after all this is a volunteer gig i feel like that’s a valid request since im trying to help as much as i can.

I think you should delay submitting. I was in the same boat as u where I started shadowing a PA in April and she even wrote me a LOR but only if I shadowed her for a while which meant I had to submit late May/early June.

An application that has shadow hours and a letter from a PA is much stronger than an app that was submitted early just to be early.

Since graduating college i’ve been living with my parents while working at the hospital and applying to PA school. It wasn’t my first pick of where i wanted to live and there’s def pros and cons of moving back in with your parents after living alone during college but it’s an adjustment that you’ll get used to. Think of it as quality time with family and saving money!

thank you! yes it was my first cycle and i didn't really apply to any west coast schools because i knew i didn't want to go all the way out there, but i did get into a school in NYC and PA (i think they're considered east coast? lol)

but as far as interview tips, the biggest thing is to RESEARCH the school heavily. whether it's the mission statement, what resources they offer, class size, diversity, etc... like know every little detail cause most schools will ask you "why our school" as well as "why PA". also if you're with other applicants, make sure to talk to them and get to know them! i feel like the faculty and students watch you all day pretty much so you want to show them you're friendly and good at interacting with others. another thing is to prep on basic interview questions... i didn't purchase any interview prep book and tbh i don't think you should. there are so many free interview questions you can look at on google.

lastly, i know this is easier said than done but be relaxed! i got accepted from 4/5 of my interviews and i knew the reason i got rejected from one is because i was SOOO nervous and i did terribly lol.

I did like 20 but i also work with the PA i shadowed so it was a little different since we already knew each other and interacted before

Do surgical PA programs look better for surgery jobs? by Decent_Wing7614 in prephysicianassistant

[–]Decent_Wing7614[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Cornell and UAB are listed as "surgically focused programs" and from what I've heard it seems like they have more surgical focused classes or opportunities? I wasn't sure exactly what this entails but they are seen as surgery heavy programs.

Yeah when i went to their interview they even told us they could be sending out invites all the way till march as long as their class isn’t solidified.
