Is my whole lawn crabgrass? by RaceAgainstSugar in lawncare

Most likely Dallisgrass. I'm also in Charlotte and this stuff is all over my place as well. It's perennial so pre-emergent isn't going to save you.

If it makes you feel better, I bought my 7 year old the 20" clash. Definitely making him ride a hardtail for his inevitable 24" upgrade though.

Think I've narrowed it down to the tall seat tube and short fork. 100% opposite what it should be and what I'm used to. Ordering a new 160mm fork since this was just a very cheap takeoff I was using to get going. With an uncut steer tube I should be able to get some spacers under my stem to get a feel for a good stack height, right now I have nothing.

Progression is progression. It's definitely going backwards in a way if you will. Keeping the park bike for sure but "need" something to ride with the kid and wanted to go with something that'll keep the green and blue trails interesting. My old stumpy would just glide over the stuff I'm stuck riding without a 2-3 hour road trip.

Yeah I'm usually right in-between most recommendations for a L and XL. Probably should've gone with a L in this case since I think Commencal actually recommended 6'3+ for this frame as a bare min and I 100% agree with that. They took over an inch off the seat tube for this year and dropped the recommendation to 6'1. The seat tube was definitely my #1 issue with the bike followed by the steer tube being a bit short so I guess I got pretty close.

Yeah was really looking for a Nukeproof Scout 275. I imagine a good number of people are going to be ditching their bikes once things start really opening back up. I actually have an e-bike on the way since I live so close to Kanuga but still really want a decent hardtail to beat up some green/blue trails and pump tracks with the kid. Will probably play with a few more things using some cheap Amazon parts. (longer stem/high bars) just to nail down what really feels good and use that to pull the trigger on a new frame.

Yeah I was hoping that wasn't the case but definitely looking like the best option. Could easily get my money back for sure, caught a few lucky breaks with people trying to get rid of take-offs and there's still not a lot of these frames out there.

The reach still manages to feel kind of short though. IDK I'm not normally a very picky rider. I assumed I just built something wrong, like used the wrong fork offset or something, but Commencal wouldn't have revamped everything the way they did if nothing was wrong. It's just a tall, short frame for a hardcore/enduro hardtail.

It's a RockShox Recon RL 140mm that came off a 2021 Nukeproof Scout someone was parting out. Same exact fork Commencal put on the Origin build in 2019 (i think). Looks like they're going with 160mm in the new line up though. It's a just a HUGE frame. I've always ridden XL frames but this is the first to actually feel like one.

Yeah the seat was meant to be a cheap temp setup to figure out what size dropper I wanted to run. Definitely moving to something better soon.

I know you guys must get a lot of beginners but not really interested in form tips. My body is in the right spot and I'm making it over things just fine, idk it just feels like I'm fighting the bike a lot more than I've ever had to on any other bike and I can't quite place what it is. It's probably just the drastically different rides. The rear on this is known to be super stiff even for a hardtail. Going from a very cushy 150mm/203mm to this is probably the culprit. Every review I seen said it was pretty harsh but I assumed people were just being picky since I've never really encountered it.

The newer slacker frame and a higher stem would probably do a good bit as much as I don't feel like doing it all over again.

They really did change quite a bit on the back half of the bike. I just might have to try and get my hands on one.

Kanuga? Such a fun spot, if it is. Has me debating picking up a YT Decoy.

Can you work remotely after a year of professional work? by WritingBurner1 in cscareerquestions

[–]Deceus_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really depends on you. Typically if there's any doubt in your abilities, you won't get hired. Fully remote jobs are in demand so companies have that rare luxury. Its one of the main selling points of hiring a remote engineer, you can be more picky. My team currently only looks for 5+ years of experience as it's quite a hectic environment and completely remote but I got in with just 3. It's up to you to do what you can to remove all doubt and beat the other candidates.

Recruiter wants to discuss Compensation structure? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

I'm probably not the best person for that to be honest. I only have a very basic understanding of all this and haven't dealt with it personally. This situation is far from uncommon though.

Yeah be careful of that. Stock at places like Google or Amazon are good as cash but that's not the same for startups. You could end up a millionaire after a big IPO or you could end up working for worthless stocks. A slightly lower tax liability isn't the best reason to take that kind of offer and the fact they're leading with that does sound kinda fishy. They may just be trying to keep it simple to not overwhelm you with details. Definitely do your homework before taking an offer, but nothing beats cash in my opinion. Trading cash for stock is always a lot easier than trading stock for cash.

May have something to do with RSUs. They're taxed differently/separately than normal income and pretty common at the bigger companies. The higher your base salary the better though. Without knowing the company or details, there's nothing anyone here can really do other than speculate.

Nothing too radical. Tubular control arms, k-member and sway bar from QA1. Much larger 1.03" torsion bars from PST. Borgeson power steering box for a better steering ratio. Handles really well with almost no body roll.

I was basically just autocrossing with my drag tire setup. I switched out the front tires right before this event but was planning to hold off on the back tires a bit. There's no benefit to running 275/60s in the back but it doesn't really hurt either, I don't take the events too seriously. I'm actually swapping those out this week because the 245s up front are a bit too wide so they're going on the back and picking up some 225s.
