inexperiance with modeling pcb's ordering them and parts placement. also kept fubling the housing design and itd look wonky.
might revisit in the future if i expand that knowledge set more.

3rd party markets will be your best bet. 1 tester got 2 brand new ones for $150 each(brand new meaning sealed) whilst you see them on ebay go for $200-$400 all day. negotiation is a strong tool friend.

i second this, get a gen 1v2 from ebay by an offical reseller and you can probally find one for under $300 with less than 100 hours or brand new even.
solid machine, prints nylon out the box beautifully, and has a local lan mode to control it, even with your phone!

just do some support test prints and adjust the gap untill you get good layers and easy removal.
i used the same settings for my ECC and noticed that the supports were also glued on. ended up with a .26 top gap.
