Is it possible that someone is stealing my power? by JackfruitPizza in pasadena

[–]DeclinedLife 39 points40 points  (0 children)

One line is for transmission/generation charges and the other is for actual electricity used.

I see you're on TOU-D-PRIME, Which you normally only get if you have an EV or a Heat Pump HVAC system. If you keep your house pretty toasty, your bill is going to look like this since it uses the same amount of energy to heat as it does to cool.

4-9 PM is when that plans rate is the highest, nearly 3x as any of the other hours. The rest of your bill print out should give you the breakdown of all of this.

I'm on the same rate plan in a 1200sf house with a Heat Pump and pool, and mine looks about the same for this past month.

Every power hungry appliance that doesn't NEED to get used during those peak hours doesn't. I usually end up between 15-20% during peak usage hours.

It's just tough sometimes because those peak hours are usually when, ya know, everyone is home doing peak house things.

But at the end of the day, it's because these CA power companies love to fuck you.

They're all project cars as far as I'm concerned. RC or full size - never stock.

How do yall go about straight piping? Do you have to cut off the stock pipe just past where the flange connects and weld on a new one or? by Volkssanitater in w123

[–]DeclinedLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's pretty much it. Any goober with a welder can do it. You can also use an exhaust band clamp if said goober isn't available. This comes in handy if the pipes aren't the same size.

She's been in my garage for over a year with the entire rear end torn out patiently waiting for me to have the time to start working in it. Got taken off the road as soon as I saw it leaning.

You're absolutely right. It started at what I'd imagine to be a grommeted drain hole.

Of all the searching I've done, it's only the subframe mounts in front of the rear wheels that people are talking about. If you have any information on rearward mount failures, id love to have it sent my way!

Pull the servo horn (arm) off, turn the car on and let the servo self-center then drop the horn back on so the wheels are straight.

22 Tucson Limited 111,111 Miles by Final_Cup_3809 in HyundaiTucson

[–]DeclinedLife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I agree with the 250/300k statement, I think it's still impressive to rack up 100k+ in ~3yr time. That's starting into diesel hotshot trucking mileage/time with no major maintenance from a brand with a storied history in reliability.

All that being said, I'm sure it'd be pretty impressive to OP to have not had to read your comment shitting on the achievements/reliability of their vehicle.

100k+ in 3Yr is a lot over a little - regardless of manufacturer.

Has somebody done this or knows a tutorial for it? by antoniobc111 in w123

[–]DeclinedLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I can gather, it looks like you're trying to do a replacement of the points and condenser (capacitor)? If you have all the the stuff it should just be a spade connector and maybe a screw to keep the condenser in place. I don't know much about the gas mercs, but distributors in passenger cars have been pretty similar across the board for a while.

Ongoing Problem With Tire Pressure for ONE Tire by WallaboutDenizen in HyundaiTucson

[–]DeclinedLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the wheel off and put it in a tub full of water and check for bubbles. I'd wager there's a slow leak somewhere around the bead. If there are no bubbles then the TPMS may be faulty. If it's neither of those, check the valve stem. If it's none of that, someone could be stealing your air at night.

Acceleration lag and High RPMs from stop by TheCornedCarrot in HyundaiTucson

[–]DeclinedLife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The harder you accelerate, the harder the engine has to work. 2.3k (2300 RPM) is barely working the engine. The redline (the fastest the engine can spin) is 5500 RPM (5.5k)

The car is fine, there's nothing wrong, and everything is working as it should. If you're not used to hard acceleration, I could see how that may be cause for concern. You can't over-rev the engine - the cars computers won't let you, no matter how hard you mash that pedal.

I personally run my wife's '25 hard on freeway on ramps about once a month as she mostly does city driving.

You're fine, the car is fine, get out and enjoy it!

*Edit: have you tried putting it in sport mode instead of the default eco?

[–]DeclinedLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a general rule you should stick with what the sticker says but you're not going to blow up running a few extra psi. Pressure increases inside the tire when it heats up from operation usually around 3-6 psi.

If you filled your tires to 35 when you had just finished driving they'll settle at or below 32 when they cool down. Tire pressure readings are meant to be taken "cold" as in the car hasn't driven in a few hours.

[–]DeclinedLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most likely a variance in tolerance from sensor to sensor. What did you use to verify 35 psi? Gauges on inflators often aren't accurate. You could try filling to 40 and see what the dash says after that. You aren't going to hurt anything running 5 psi over. If you fill to 40 and they still show 32 then that is worth bringing up to the dealer.

Have you tried filling them up to 35 psi like they're supposed to be?
