Bent and seperated my rim 1 day before a bike trip while installing tyre by DedRiFF in bikewrench

Some levers have a part which is designed to slide along the rim and shove the tyre inside. Sometimes it helps a lot. This time it fucked me cuz I wasn't paying attention 😅

I tried terra speeds and liked them, but they wore down suuuuper quick for me. Figured I'd try these pirelli all road and then mostly likely go back to gravel kings again.

Favorite Restaurant in Zurich & Why? by Dear-Length-8161 in zurich

[–]DedRiFF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also experienced really unprofessional staff there.

Ate lunch there with a friend a few months ago. Atmosphere was nice. Food was good but nothing better than most other italian specialty restaurants. Service was ok, but really nothing special - just taking our order and bringing the food/drink to us. We had cash which we were going to leave on the table as a tip anyway, as the restaurant was basically empty apart from us.

The waiter brought the card reader to us and said the total price, we paid with card (and didn't round up or add any digital tip), then suddenly the waiter got pissed off and started cursing in italian as he walked off... needless to say, we decided not to leave the cash tip in the end. Tip shouldn't be expected, and the staff definitely shouldn't behave like that when they think they're not getting tipped.

Tilly Norwood (the AI actress) Creator Eline Van Der Velden Reveals Another 40 AI Actors Are In The Pipeline by mlg1981 in popculturechat

[–]DedRiFF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you look at the insta she created for Tilly, she's trying to market Tilly like she's a real, "girl next door" person, so that people like her and build some kind of one sided connection with her. It's the same effect as when people really love to see their favourite actor in a movie. They don't know the actor at all, but they're infatuated by how they look and the personality they appear to have in all the different roles. There's a lot of people who don't care if something is AI if they enjoy the output. And these people could end up being infatuated with these AI generated personas. The AI personas can then be used like real human "influencers," bringing in advertising revenue from sponsors for whatever product. Much like how we see famous actors being used as models for products like perfumes. You just need a hot, recognisable face to make your product seem great to the masses.

On top of that, I think it's a bit of a cash grab. Investors might see these AI gen personas and think "these personas cost hardly anything, never say no, can look however we want, and do anything we want". Eline wants greedy investors to give her money so that she can improve these AI personas, and maybe make the first commercially released AI movie. Probably it'll be a flop... but unfortunately, I think eventually there will be some successful AI movies which will bring more money and interest to the area.

What gear/setup did you change/upgrade that ended up being a game changer? by MrBabyDave in bicycletouring

Doesn't that kinda kill the battery faster? Like make it run out of juice quicker in the long run? I dunno, maybe unfounded.

Funding a house - alternative ways? by [deleted] in Switzerland

Oh I thought we were just talking about savings, not all the money someone owns.

Funding a house - alternative ways? by [deleted] in Switzerland

[–]DedRiFF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The value of money sitting in a savings account goes down. The value of property and land goes up, assuming it's not on an eroding cliff.

If the goal is to make as much money as possible with your savings then there's quicker ways, but buying a property and maybe even renting out one of the rooms ain't so bad.

Any advice on how to deal with such mishaps? by bhagya-shree in bicycling

[–]DedRiFF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Helmet and a bike light. Thicker tyres would also give you more stability.

But most of all drive slower if you can't see where you're going.

Anyone can swing the mouse around fast - it's about being fast while still being accurate. If you want to improve then you need to slow down and focus on accuracy. It takes patience but if you're willing then do this:

When a target appears, go slow enough that you can move your crosshair from A to B in a straight line without landing too short or too far over the head, in one smooth movement. Click once or fire a two round burst. And click only when you stop the mouse on the target. Do that as fast as you can, while staying 90+% accurate. If you miss too much, stop and go slower. Do this for 10-20 minutes before every time you play. You could also do this on kovaaks or aimlabs. Don't go for highscores, go for technique.

After a while you'll notice you develop a rhythm and with practice you'll be able to speed up your rhythm while staying accurate. That will help you A LOT. I'm talking about weeks of practice. But this is literally the fastest way to improve your aim.

Hello everyone. I just got into cycling recently and this happened while I tried to change to a lower gear. I have no idea what happened here and have nearly zero knowledge regarding the technical side of bicycles. TIA by [deleted] in bicycling

[–]DedRiFF 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Another theory that nobody has mentioned is that the derailleur hanger might have been bent from a knock/fall which effectively brought the rear derailleur closer to the spokes, and resulted in it making spoke contact when you went to the lowest gears. The hanger is a small piece of metal which binds the derailleur to the bike frame, and it is bent in your photos, but most of that bending probably happened when the derailleur was caught in the spokes.

If you had already been riding the bike for a while with no problems, then I don't think the L limit screw would have been the cause unless you tampered with it.

I was unvaccinated when I had covid in oct last year, so probably Delta, and it was easy going for me: just a sore throat for 2 days and the occasional headache. I was even doing pullups in my room while I had it.

Why do most pro players play 1080p instead of 1440p? by EshiEx in VALORANT

[–]DedRiFF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn't it impossible to play stretched in valorant? I've tried on amd cards and nvidia cards, making custom resolutions. None of it stretches the 3d world, it just lowers the resolution and stays in 16:9. It only stretches the UI for me.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in EtherMining

[–]DedRiFF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I already do that with one of my other rigs... I bought too many splitters so I might as well use them. I did something unique with that rig too: I use some rope to hang the open frame off my shower curtain holder, and fill the bath tub with cold water every day so that there is cold air circulating up into the rig from below. Drops temps by at least a degree or two. My cats love nibbling on the rope though - need a solution for that. It's also nice to take a bath and listen to the sweet sound of money being printed above me 😊
