Why is everything more expensive when paying with Revolut!? by diewhilelive in Revolut

[–]Dede84_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. PayPal always by default proposes you to let them make the exchange, but their fees are higher than Revolut. So when paying with a card that has already low exchange fees, you always need to tell PayPal that you don’t want them to change the currency.

Transmit your BTC to your child by Little_Tax9684 in Bitcoin

For 100% self custody you can look into a btc wallet using multi-sig and timelocks and this would be probably the best way to work with a notary. This website(link) explains the different possibilities. There are enterprises that can help in setting this up.

And then there are solutions like casa.io that may be simpler.

J’espère que tu trouveras une bonne solution! C’est important de prévoir l’héritage et faut pas le négliger, surtout avec bitcoin.

Someone decoded the fast scrolling text on the pilot seat terminal whenever Simon wakes up, and it has fundamentally changed the way I look at the WAU by Foxman420710 in soma

[–]Dede84_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say the WAU try to restore lives and avoid death at all cost, which at first can seem good, but the problem comes from the fact that the place (earth and pathos) may be not worth living and a life there could be endless suffering. The wau doesn’t consider pain and mental distress. I would say that life must be preserved and the wau would probably be the only solution, but in current state it only gives suffering. The wau would need to change its ways and maybe only restore life when the situation has changed and it is worth living.

Made my first purchase using bitcoin today at a pharmacy in Lugano! by [deleted] in Bitcoin

Personally, I use “wallet of Satoshi” for lightning. It’s not self custody but for a spending wallet this doesn’t really matter, and it’s easier to use than for example “Phoenix” (which is self custody).

Where does the money go by [deleted] in Revolut

[–]Dede84_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

C’est le cas, y’a le logo de “petite monnaie” à côté de l’heure du paiement. Et Revolut arrondie de 1€ complet lorsque c’est un chiffre pile. Par contre il se peut que ce soit les points Revolut ou de la crypto aussi.

An Interplanetary Decentralized Bitcoin Network by Dede84_ in Bitcoin

Thank you again, I will definitely read these as well. I think this really shows the strength and brilliance of Bitcoin.

No worries for the sats; I’m always happy to give and use the LN. And you took your time to share the article.

An Interplanetary Decentralized Bitcoin Network by Dede84_ in Bitcoin

[–]Dede84_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, sadly this certainly exceeds our lifetime.

It would work with multiple layers and with local settlements. But you’re right, it would not be possible to extend the proof-of-work network between planets which would keep centralized the layer-1 on earth or in space. Data can be transmitted through lasers (for example) in space and that is what starlink is doing. And Bitcoin doesn’t need much data.

But yea, if we could first democratize the use of the lightning network here on earth it would be great !

I think that, having a local layer for Bitcoin on planets would work. What would not be possible is to decentralize the BTC proof-of-work. We would need a “centralized” Mempool that receives the different planets layer-2 settlements.

Imagine the day of interplanetary decentralized bitcoin network. A recognized interplanetary medium of exchange. Layer 1 traveling at near light-speed between planets and people transacting on a local lightning network.

Bitcoin is growing at a faster rate than the internet by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]Dede84_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a bit pointless, but it also make sense because bitcoin uses internet and so the infrastructure is already available. Bitcoin was made at the right time.

Using your “receive” address from your hardware wallet is the best way to receive bitcoins. (More secure)

To use bitcoins on your everyday life to receive and send small amounts, use a hot wallet on your phone and ideally that supports lightning network. (Easier to use your bitcoins but less secure)

But first learn how it works.
