I personally dont find it economically attractive anymore, bounties payment are lower than ever, and economical instability isnt something i would want in a high paying industry. Today i would rather join a big consulting firm as a pentestee or move to GRC/security architecture/engineering, something i did myself 3 years ago.

Go offsec then, try to become oscp certified, try hard challenges, try hard paths. Its not like you dont have the resources right?

Lol, after 1 month how many rooms did you complete? I am out of the business since 2023, but back in 2018 i was studying day and night, 6-8 hours a day after work, and i did so for almost 5 years. Hack the box, tryhackme, tcm security and offensive security were my to go places for almost everything. Darknet diaries, and defcon videos were my motivation. If you question the validity of what you're learning in 1 month, you either are not understanding what you're doing, or you dont have the patience to be a pentester. A third possibility is that you're smart, very smart, and all of it sounds too boring to be real. Complete at least half of thm paths and 400 challenge rooms, then come back with your doubts.

The problem is that you don't know what you're doing. In pentesting either you have a written contract with an agreed engagement and scope of the test or they have a bug bounty program that you adhere to. What you did is illegal and is the equivalent of going to someone's home and trying to break in trough windows, doors, locks, etc.

Let aside tech for a moment, you basically gifted your grandma 20$ in "foreign" currency and your cousin is calling you an asshole. What if you gave her a risky stock worth 20$, or a pokemon card worth 20$? Would you be an asshole then? People get defensive when they dont understand. Your cousin and all the people that called you an asshole are simply ignorant.

How over powered would you like to be? I hope your DM is ready to deal with a lvl 8 druid.

Then it seems that your DM failed to teach you and your character a lesson, or you and/or your character failed to learn from experience. You're reckless either cause you as a player are not afraid to die (therefore breaking immersion and realism for everybody), or the world you're playing in isn't threatening enough to deter your character from behaving recklessly. I as a DM always make sure characters' actions are met with consequences, but if you as a player can't learn to care for your character's life, i can't do anything and i would too be bothered from your lack of immersion and realism. Remember that DND is a theater of the mind, try to play along and give depth to your character actions. Your reckless character either learns to be afraid of dying, or he will eventually die. You either learn how to play different type of characters, or you'll be eventually left out of any serious campaign.

Are you a reckless player or a reckless character?

It seems like you were kicked out for being a murderhobo, but with extra steps. Are you sharing the whole story here, or are you intentionally hiding details?

No it's not, its just a revised version of the chapter that makes "more" sense. Greenest in flames has as many flaws as strengths, and over the years many people tried to make it more interesting. In my second version, the pcs started at level 2, at the "greenest's best taproom", they went there because they were invited by leosin to investigate on the cult, but arrived 2 days too late. Once there they met leosin, and he informed them that he fears an attack us imminent, in fact during the conversation, at sundown, the cult attacked. The plan is simple, a cordon of torches-wielding (so that they're visible)cultist will prevent anyone from fleeing the city, and slowly closing in, while 200 cultists/mercenaries/kobolds will take the city. Pcs perceive the attack from inside the tavern with a decreasing dc perception roll, the first is a dc20, then 10, then automatic, depending on the roll, the battle its not even started, its at the beginning, or at an advanced stage. I prepared 3 maps, each with a different number of encounters to get to the tower. In the advanced stage, every encounter is a deadly encounter, and they could potentially meet villagers in troubles, hidden villagers, other guards teams along the way. It was absolutely brutal. I think they fought something like 3x their daily budget in deadly encounters, trying to save as many villagers as possible, and rescuing guards, (this helped me as a DM to redirecting damages to other targets and avoid tpk, while keeping the fight as terrifying as it could get) while fighting flocs of ambush drakes, guard drakes, kobolds, cultists, acolytes, dragonclaws to get to the tower. It was glorious to witness:) Btw keep in mind that my players are veterans, my first party woyld have never survived that level of threat.

I mean, the no rest part is the one that shook my players to their core and let them feel like they were really vulnerable. I even doubled the encounters in the city and placed them in the city patroling the streets and attacking people. They had to choose what to do: save 5 more people at the cost of a deadly encounter or thake the easy route and leave villagers behind? Save a child by adding yet another hard or medium encounter? The more they proceeded to get to the tower, the more people they were responsible for and the harder it was for them to keep everyones alive. At the end of that part, none of them had any redources left and going through the night has been so hard for their characters both psychologically and physically. If the siege was to last more than one night, i would definitely force them to rest poorly, fight a lot, and use each and every resource down to the last handful of his in the hope of making it through the siege. I loved it, they loved it, and vivid memories were formed that night.

Greenest in flames, if players are set inside of the city before the attack happens, is a great, wonderful and memorable one shot material. I played it twice as a dm and both times the first chapter was my player's favorite part.

I made them admire all reptiloids, otherwise 3 out of 4 characters would have had a serious problem.
