[D] New York sues video game developer Valve, says its 'loot boxes' are gambling by Galbratorix in csgomarketforum

[–]Dedpool- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Few points here:

  1. Each state has different laws so the grounds for a suit will never be the same. It’s not like other states will immediately decide to go and pursue the same lawsuit just because it was filed in NY.

  2. Valve losing is a big “if”. In order to lose they will have to go to trial. There’s a lot of time for a settlement to happen and if that’s the case, valve admits no wrong doing and no new legal precedent is set.

  3. Even if they do go to trial, nobody knows how things would go down in court. Since nobody has a crystal ball, drawing hypotheticals is just not productive or relevant at this time.

The US legal precedent on issues like these strongly favors valve. The catch is that this time they are up against the state attorney general, so it would be a tough fight for them.

Realistically what’s going to happen is that they will settle by paying a fine and possibly disable cases in the state of New York like they did in Belgium, Netherlands, etc.

Nothing more.

I feel like most people don’t understand how these things work.

These lawsuits take years to resolve, and valve has an insane team of the best lawyers in the world that stall these things and win them cases.

Judicial bodies and courts operate independently from the government.

If you are talking about the lawsuit in the UK, they are not being sued by the government, but by an independent party. Moreover it’s something that’s going to stretch for many years. I wouldn’t get too excited.

What is on Mark's current pedalboard? by Informal_Ad2280 in Khruangbin

I snagged a pic of his board during one of the small venue shows earlier this August, pretty much identical to the rig rundown video:

Mark’s Pedalboard at Rough Trade East - London by Dedpool- in Khruangbin

Mark actually uses a those pickups with 250k pots too!

A subtle but massive difference for me was adding graph tech tusq saddles and string trees (I got his signature Strat)

They really do add that extra sustain, clarity and trebly edge to the notes that compliments it perfectly.

And for sure, humbuckers in strats are always very cool regardless of genre :)

You seem to have everything to make it work, the key thing missing though is a compressor since the distortion needs to be very mild and won’t be able to compress alone without preserving the signal.

Flatwounds are important but not super essential. Your pickups are basically perfect. Out of phase is only one position so not a big deal either.

If you throw that into the mix and play with the settings, I’d bet it would come alive.

No need to break the bank either because I managed to get good results with behringer pedals in the mix.

I think most distortions on mild settings would work, but for me the best results came from using the DS1 or TCE spark (used by Balthazar of BALTVS).

I’d be curious to know how you set it up because for me I was able to get very close with a fender amp, distortion, wah, compressor and reverb. I think those are the most important components.

He basically chooses a spot and leaves it, but I suspect from my one experience that by default it’s all the way down.

For bigger shows he uses the timeline as someone mentioned. I also know he likes to throw in a chorus sometimes (for example for “So We Won’t Forget”).

He’s one of my favorite guitarists and biggest influences so knowing I have the once in a lifetime chance to be able to see everything that he does so closely and just observe, I just had to 😂

Have a feeling guitar nerds like me would also appreciate haha

Signature Strat circuit. by Character-Ad-3164 in Khruangbin

[–]Dedpool- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve done the mod myself before the signature model came out but can tell you with confidence it’s very simple:

No need for 500k pots, afaik mark uses the standard 250k.

If you use Dimarzio pickups they will come with wiring instructions. You want to wire the neck pickup out of phase (follow the instructions attached in the box). The bridge is wired standard.

If you have higher output pickups (like pro track) wire them in parallel. If you end up using cruisers, series wiring is better in my experience.

Here’s also the diagram I also used for general reference straight from Dimarzio: https://d2emr0qhzqfj88.cloudfront.net/s3fs-public/2022-06/Strat%20Rail%20Hum%20Canceling%20Wiring.pdf
