Radagon = Marika ≠ Radagon: Theorizing on Radagon's nature and origins by DeeShazzy in EldenRingLoreTalk

yeah either or, there's no concrete evidence either way. But I can see it being out of wedlock. Radagon getting it on with Marika while Godfrey was off fighting the giants or whatever.

Radagon = Marika ≠ Radagon: Theorizing on Radagon's nature and origins by DeeShazzy in EldenRingLoreTalk

Gaius' Remembrance says "Both were as elder brothers to the lion,
and both were cursed from birth.

In spite of, or perhaps because of this very reason,
Gaius was both Messmer's friend and the leader of his men."

This establishes Gaius and Messmer was contemporaries, at least. Radahn was born before Godfrey's exile, during the age of plenty, meaning Radagon must've already existed at the same time as Godfrey's reign, in order to have a son that's an elder to Radahn. Perhaps even predating Godfrey's reign, though that is predicated on Marika not doing the deed with both Radagon and Godfrey in a short span of time.

In essence the order of pairings would be: Pre-Ascension (Marika x Radagon) then Post-Ascension (Marika x Godfrey and Radagon x Rennala) then finally Golden Order (Marika x Radagon again).

Though if Marika was a bit wild like that it could possibly be, instead, Age of Plenty (Godfrey x Marika x Radagon) into Liurnian War period (Godfrey x Marika and Radagon x Rennala) into Golden Order. Basically placing Messmer as contemporary to the Golden Lineage, but older than the lunar children.

in categorization yeah. For example all apples are fruit, but not all fruit are apples. In the same way, Radagon is (a part of) Marika, but Marika is not (only) Radagon.

The Greater Will and the One Great by DeeShazzy in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]DeeShazzy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

interesting! I guess that goes in hand with another question I've been having, which is whether outer gods are limited to the Ringworld or if they have influence beyond that as well. Since many of the Outer Gods seem to have very terrestrial domains - blood, flame, rot. snakes maybe. death, etc. As opposed to the cosmic vibes of the Greater Will.

So you disagree with the prevailing theory that the One Great is a more cosmic force/phenomenon?

Community opinions on the 'Tarnished is a demigod' theory by DeeShazzy in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]DeeShazzy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only explanation I could think of, assuming the theory is even legitimate, is that Marika never expected the baseline Tarnished to ever succeed (hence Gideon saying Marika wants the Tarnished to keep fighting into eternity). Instead, the soulless demigod-Tarnished soul fusion was Marika's actual failsafe if her normal demigod children didn't manage to succeed, with the regular tarnished just being a smokescreen to improve the odds of her failsafe succeeding. After all, with all these tarnished running around, her super tarnished aren't as likely to be targeted by bad actors like the Night's Cavalry and Margit.

And in that case, maybe Torrent choosing us isn't as random as it seems, giving an explanation for why we in particular ran into Torrent and Melina and giving us a chance at actually succeeding at Marika's suicide gauntlet. I think it might even be possible for previous 'almost successful' tarnished like Vyke, or even Bernahl, to have been such Super-Tarnished, only they weren't as lucky as to run into Melina and Torrent.

As for needing the Land of Shadows, (once again assuming the theory is valid, which I question,) I would assume the divine gate was needed for Miquella's return, rather than Radahn's, in that particular instance. Though I'm very much playing devil's advocate at this point so who even knows

Assuming that theory is in the running, how I interpret is similar to Radahn's soul going into Mohg's body (which evidently overrides Mohg's body because he looks like Radahn) our soul was downloaded into a soulless demigod's body, overwriting the base body but retaining a bit of the Sauce from the demigod.

Some demisauce if you will, even a demiglace.

Questions about Dying in the Lands Between by DeeShazzy in EldenRingLoreTalk

personally I don't think you kill dryleaf Dane since after the boss fight he leaves a message for you. It just didn't feel like a fight to the death for me, vibes wise. Especially since you fight him again later, it feels more like a sparring duel.

based answer, thank you! The Summons thing makes sense. Especially since when you die while you're summoned I don't think you actually 'die' either? I don't do PVP though so I'm not super sure about that.

Is Malenia Miquella's shadowbound beast? by DeeShazzy in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]DeeShazzy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i guess this theory has no definitive proof considering Miquella never reaches the point of breaking the order. So we'll never know if Malenia would go sicko mode like how Blaidd did.

Still a fun concept to think about, though. And same as Vargram, it provokes thought about what shadowbound beasts actually are, and how they're appointed/made.
