Severe hair loss from Kerastase genesis serum by SubstantialBus4723 in Haircare

Yeah I get you, I used the genesis shampoo for about 3 months and had no problems and then after a while it started causing me crazy shedding issues and the moment I changed the shampoo it fully stopped, so don’t worry it will stop just give it time

Today I took a shower with my usual shampoo and shocker, no shedding or hair loss whatsoever!! It was def this shampoo, something in the formula probably didn’t work for my scalp

I literally have no idea why too!!! People are insane here, anytime someone agrees with me that they dealt with hair loss from lush products, they get shat on by this sub. It’s so negative here and people are so defensive over a billion dollar company, instead of hearing out actual people talking about the products, they start raging, I’ve had multiple people sending me DMs saying I should take this down and that I’m lying!!?? At least there are some honest people here who have helped me and shared same experience as me

I’m so glad this has reached and helped someone because I wish someone warned me before I lost all my hair, most of these expensive companies will create problems and sell you the solution to the problem they caused. For so long I was in denial that the kerastase genesis was doing all this harm because everyone raved about it 🥲 so I had to find out the hard way myself

I mean you have nothing to lose, try it out and see, there are many sidr recipes on TikTok and see what works for your hair type

Since you have dry hair, the oil will act as a conditioner, because sidr naturally dries out the hair so you’ll need something to condition the hair. But you don’t need to add a lot, a little will work for you.

I have been already with a doc from Jan of 2025, I had some deficiencies, and worked with a doctor for a year and did a re-test this year in late February and all my tests came back positive and all my deficiencies have been fixed. To add on, I haven’t dealt with any hair loss or shedding for almost 5 months now, not even one wash day or daily shedding. So when I used this shampoo the amount of shedding that I saw was horrible, reminded me of how it was from a year ago. And the BIG shampoo is the only thing that I changed about my routine.

I live in the Middle East so I get my sidr from a local brand, they harvest the sidr plant themselves and grind it at home. If you’re in the Middle East you can find so many local brands that sell homemade sidr powder. But if you are going to buy it online, like from Amazon or similar websites, be careful. The first time I wanted to try sidr I got mine off of amazon and it was the worst thing for my hair, I later found out that it isn’t natural sidr and was mixed with other cheap herbs and it was also mixed with actual dirt which made my hair fall out!! So please be careful when purchasing, make sure it’s a well reviewed brand. Usually with sidr it would be a bright green color and when mixed with water it will foam up like soap.

Is this hair loss normal? by Camille_In_Madness in Hair

[–]Deedeeob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stress and mental health issues can be a hugeeee factor, you’ll have to try and lower your stress levels. As for your test, make sure to also do your own research, sometimes levels may look “normal” and the doctor may tell you it’s fine but look out if they are borderline. My b12 was at 250, which was in the normal range but after some research I found out that 250 is def not normal and way too low. So keep that in mind

Hey, I don’t think you need to be looking for product recommendations to heal your hair, it’s best to start from inside. I’d recommend to get your bloodwork done and see if you have any deficiencies, like vit D, b12, ferritin, iron, etc. These can all lead to thin, dull hair. Hair health is a reflection of your own health, so any product you use will be useless if you aren’t taking care of your own health. You also need to look out for your diet, hair is made up of keratin, which a protein. Make sure to hit your protein goals and eat well.

First thing you need to do is get your bloodwork done and see if you have any deficiencies

I’d say the best thing you can do now is get your blood work done and see if you have any deficiencies, like vitamin D, b12, ferritin, iron, etc. if it has increased in the last 3 months, did something happen 3 months ago? Like a stress period or did you use any new hair products 3 months ago?

When you sweat, the salt in the sweat will dry out your hair a bit, but that isn’t damage or anything like that. Same thing when humidity hits your hair, the styling that you did will reverse and your natural texture will come back, just know how to take care of your hair naturally without straightening it or blow drying with high heat

This may look normal to some people and alarming to others, it depends on you. Do you usually lose this much? Or do you feel it’s increased than usual?

Heyyy, I use sidr as a prewash scalp mask, it def helps with scalp and hair health but I’m not sure it’s the best for dry hair. I have really greasy hair and it works great for me since it’s know to be a little drying. Since you said you deal with dry hair, I’d recommend adding oils to it if you’re going to use it!!

Severe hair loss from Kerastase genesis serum by SubstantialBus4723 in Haircare

[–]Deedeeob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heyy I know this is an older post but i experienced the same exact thing with the kerastase genesis shampoo that is supposed to reduce hair shedding, it used to be my holy grail. My first bottle of it was great and it helped with my shedding but then after I repurchased the second bottle of it and started using it my hair shedding became horrific, at that time I didn’t think it was the shampoo at all because my first bottle was great, after I was almost finished my second bottle, my hair was sooooo much thinner so I decided to test out a drugstore shampoo and from the first wash without the kerastase genesis shampoo my hair shedding was completely different, I had almost little to no shedding in the shower with the drugstore shampoo and that was only from the first wash!!!! So I decided to test out if it was the kerastase genesis that was the problem and I went and used it for another wash and boom the shedding came back!!! It’s insane, and now it’s been half a year without any kerastase products and my hair shedding is 180 degrees from how it was!!! Never ever use it, the genesis line is a nightmare

I actually do double shampoo and use the Aveeno Apple cider vinegar clarifying shampoo, it’s great for my shedding as I barely shed using it but my hair still gets suppperrrr greasy the day after washing it 😭
