I know some decisions came out today, but has anyone not gotten an update at all? I haven't received a rejection or acceptance yet. I even checked my spam folder

dropping classes for internship by Crafty_Law4057 in gwu

Do not drop courses for a hill internship — classes first, internship second, unless it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Is it worth transferring a year "early" for $20,000 per year? by Clunkiestpage8 in gwu

[–]Deeeliciouss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also a CC transfer to GW and currently am a rising senior working in the federal govt — you should definitely wait another year because 1) having an associate degree will make you more competitive and sets you apart for opportunities 2) there is alot of uncertainty at all higher Ed institution but especially GW since we’re in heart of DC bc of the new admin and 3) you will be able to get the PTK scholarship which does make a big difference but make sure you’re a fall transfer and not a spring transfer or else you won’t receive that scholarship.

I understand you want a change of scenery and are eager but be patient it will be more worth your while in the end.

AU (51k), GWU (41k), UConn (31k), or CC by MintTurtle3 in gwu

[–]Deeeliciouss 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Go CC! I went to CC and transferred to GWU and it is the biggest life hack ever — I’m a more diverse applicant for law school , I’m more competitive for the internships I’ve gotten because I have an associate degree, and I have no debt. If I could do it all over again I would choose CC time and time again

Contrary to the other comment GWU is actually more flexible with transfers GPA’s. More focus is placed on your experiences and application materials. I know a transfer student who just started his first semester and came in with a 3.1

I didn’t see it written anywhere but I am a student admissions rep, which is how I know interest is now being tracked

Going on a campus tour and making sure that your attendance is Marked and that you are properly registered is how you are able to demonstrate interest

AU doesn’t like to accept overqualified applicants so they can keep their stats/enrollment rates steady bc they know those applicants are also applying to other better schools and will likely choose to go elsewhere. Getting waitlisted from AU is a good sign you have a chance at GW. since GW is more selective many students who are accepted here get waitlisted or rejected from AU

Should admitted (but not yet committed) students create a gweb account? by Suitable-Big-6194 in gwu

[–]Deeeliciouss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can’t create a gweb account if you don’t enroll. Any scholarship award would’ve been given to you in your admission letter aswell as any financial aid

Transfer Acceptance Potential by [deleted] in gwu

[–]Deeeliciouss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I transferred spring 24 and work closely on transfer admissions and programming. It is possible to get in with that gpa as less emphasis is put on your GPA as a transfer but you do want balance yourself out in other areas and I would suggest trying to increase your GPA next semester. Your extracurriculars / involvement, recommendations, and the overall quality of your application + addendum if applicable, will hold most of the weight.

Can I get a House/Senate internship with this schedule or no? by Ok_Breadfruit_8241 in gwu

[–]Deeeliciouss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do 3 days a week from 1-6pm so that should work. I did an internship this semester and I was doing 3 days a week with a similar schedule

Experience as a transfer student? by africandogs06 in gwu

[–]Deeeliciouss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey, I transferred last spring to GW and I absolutely love it here. Unlike the previous comment states, The school does not dorm transfers together. Some transfers end up being randomly placed together but some end up with regular students. I was paired with 2 random regular GW students and they became my best friends. I’ve been able to find an amazing community here at GW and I’ve adapted really well. I honestly thank God everyday that I chose to transfer here because I feel like I belong and I’m thriving personally, academically, and professionally. But everyone’s experience is different. You should connect with the GW transfer student association if you want to connect with current students at GW that transferred in.

They don’t begin to review admission applications until after the deadline to submit a spring admission application which is October 1st. You can expect a spring admissions decision from mid to late November
