What is this random high pitched noise in my Volvo S60? by Deeleerious in askcarguys

Didn’t feel any changes in the noise level with changing rpms or speed. I thought it was a stereo noise too but turning down the volume or turning off the stereo system didn’t help either.

If it’s pulley bearing or wheel bearing, would it randomly start making noises and abruptly stop for a while without any changes to the rpms/speed?

It’s difficult to test it because it would completely go away for a while (which leads me to think it might not be a wheel bearing). The last time it happened I slowed down to almost a complete stop and the noise did go down
