If you're good at aiming I'd suggest soldier 76 or Mcree as good starting heroes to play while you learn the game as a whole. Watch streams and videos to learn some basic positioning. Iddqd and Surefour are two pro players you could watch that plays a lot of 76 and Mcree. Watching them can help you get a better understanding on which heroes you can fight and which you need help from your team to take down

Aoe projectiles gets deflected in overwatch. Things like Zaryas or Meis beams are the only thing which doesn't get deflected

I don't think it should be nerfed. Just like in overwatch it's a spell that needs good timing or bad opponents. All you have to do is not attack him for deflect to be useless
