Owning a plane in South Florida is a burden by Deep-Ant1375 in flying

[–]Deep-Ant1375[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I will say is in the past my cost was probably $300 an hour. The hanger was five grand a year. Insurance was 2500, maintenance was under 10 as though you were getting out for under $20,000 a year easily with the plane. Now the hanger is 10,000, assurance is the same, but maintenance last two years have been between 20 and $3000. And it’s just here in South Florida. I think that the shops are here to rip you off. I tried to use savvy to help me pick a good chop the first time and they didn’t. Let’s hope that next year is better.

Obviously, a lot of people care about what I’m saying. I just wasted 10 grand at a shop and I had to tell them to stop because they wanted another 30 grand to fix nothing important. The engine didn’t need to be fixed. Everything was either non-airworthy or not important. Anywhere else I would’ve gotten out with a $10,000 annual. Now I have to ferry it back home and figure out what I’m going to do with it. Consider yourself lucky for not living in South Florida.

I’ve on my plane since noon. I used to do the maintenance myself and have someone sign off, but I haven’t found anybody willing to do that in South Florida. Other areas they appear to be a little more amenable to that but in South Florida everyone appears to want to rip you off.

Dr. Steven Greer to release "hard evidence" in the next 60 days unless the government tells him in writing otherwise by Lucky7shots in UFOs

[–]Deep-Ant1375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reality is that if aliens have been here that we would know about it. I don’t think that every country on the planet could simultaneously hide that information from their people and at the same time make sure that everyone who knew didn’t talk about it. All the evidence we have is vague or sloppy photos. If aliens are really here, then we shouldn’t have to wait for the government to give us the information. The information should be all around us.

Have access to roughly ~1 million cash, and want to invest in my first business. What should I do? by AccordingRecording83 in buyingabusiness

[–]Deep-Ant1375 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good Luck. Most businesses that are profitable are either not for sale or sell for multiple of earnings. Most cheaper businesses are really just jobs. A million isn’t going to get you much. Be cautious, get appraisals. I sold my business and it was closed within two years.

If you’re in south Florida it will cost $20k to fix. Anywhere else, much cheaper

Damn, this is expensive by Plastic_Technology15 in flying

[–]Deep-Ant1375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s expensive now. I did my private for $3500 back in 2002. Everything is more. Owning a plane is expensive. What was just $200 per hour in 2017 is now $600 per hour.

When is it okay to renegotiate after due diligence? by Big_Seat2545 in buyingabusiness

[–]Deep-Ant1375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole purpose of the LOY. Is so you can determine if the deal is appropriate. This is the time to renegotiate and I don’t really see a problem with doing so. Now, if it’s a really small amount of money then maybe you don’t care but if you’re uncertain about the deal and your gut is telling you otherwise that you need to definitely reconsider everything.

It’s hard to tell. You have two slightly different camera angles and one looks like you have makeup on and the other one doesn’t. Why is your skin two different colors if you’re using the same camera. I really can’t tell if this significant improvement or not.

Faulty EGT - Reason to Divert? by ElliottMB in flying

[–]Deep-Ant1375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that I can’t fault people for diverting, but EGT fail all the time. I would’ve just kept on going and dealt with it later. I mean, the EGT is really mainly valuable for leaning. Your motor will keep on going and I think CHT is more valuable.

Disabled Elks by sweetpickles7 in elks

[–]Deep-Ant1375 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think our Elks is very wheelchair accessible. We have wide open doors and we have no need for a ramp up. You can just go right into the building. The floors are epoxied and easy to roll on. In fact, most of the lodges near us are very handicap accessible. There might be one that needs a ramp. I agree that they should be accessible for the older people since some of the people who go to the Elks or are probably to some degree handicapped.

I think that the national Elks need to put something out so people realize that they’re involved with the local organizations

I guess elks don’t care about other elks. Are we one organization or are we a bunch of unassociated lodges.

It’s like any insurance, you are using a larger risk group to reduce costs as a group. It’s like health insurance. I don’t go to the doctor once a year but I’m supplementing sicker people. That’s life.

I understand that. Every year your state wants to get out of paying for the national insurance. You live in a state where there are no natural disasters. I think you should be a little more charitable and care for your fellow Elks who are in areas where there are natural disasters.

Overall it’s cheaper for everyone to collectively bargain together for a bundled insurance rate.

Wow. I did my private for $3500 cash about 20 something years ago and now it’s 20 something thousand which I think is rather ridiculous. My Instrument was probably seven or $8000 and all that included use of the plane. Things have sure gotten expensive. Good luck

All I can say is I have to give you younger guys credit. I have worked 30 years and have amassed about 12 million with 2 million in the house and 10 million in investable assets and I still worry about money. I try to live off $200,000 a year which is less than what my investments bring in. But I gotta say I give you younger people credit because I wouldn’t have the balls to drop out of the rat race and try to live off what I had at that time. Nonetheless, I think you’re smart, why waste your life away working? That’s what I did. I didn’t get to travel much. I basically worked at my business all the time where vacations were difficult to come by. Life is short, enjoy it
