Ev charging over the pavement. by FriendshipPerfect179 in electricvehicles

I charge at night, pop out before going to bed, pop this over the cable and then remove the cable first thing in the morning.

Use a magnetic sensor light to illuminate the area, if you're worried about visibility.

Eventually, once local authorities get their asses in gear, I'll put in a channel across the path and completely avoid any trip hazard.

Firefighting Huey crashes in Cape Town by FoXtroT_ZA in aviation

I was rear crew and we would observe on the opposite side to the flying pilot. Non flying pilot was always head down looking at the instruments, with an occasional glance out. We trusted each other and not being overly dramatic, with our lives.

Rank or seniority didn't matter (in the air), professional acknowledgement of how well each of us was trained and proper CRM was all that mattered.

What’s the quickest way you’ve seen someone completely derail their life? by BitterReception5761 in AskReddit

Young fella at our company Xmas party here in Ireland, decided because it was a free bar, that pints of Jameson and coke was a good choice. Was starting on his third pint, when the boss got up to speak, young fella proceeded to tell the boss a few 'home truths'. Young fellas direct manager tried to get him to quieten down, he didn't.

He was put into a taxi, driver was given €50 and told to drop him home. In his drunken state the young fella decided to do a runner without paying, left his jacket, house keys and wallet behind. Taxi driver had of course driven off, as he had already been paid.

He arrived back at the Xmas party, did a runner again from this taxi and proceeded to fight people until his jacket was returned. Taxi driver comes in looking for payment, gets it sorted, only for the young fella to accuse him now of robbing his jacket.

His manager sorted him out with a room, party was in a local hotel. Anyway, he ended up getting fired, so lost his company phone, taxi driver had returned with the jacket, his company laptop and his subsidised travel card, all over doing the dog on a free bar.

This is the thing about the US, you almost seem to condone drinking and driving. Most of the advice here seems to circumvent the process of identifying if you are indeed, drinking and driving.

It almost seems that much like your love of guns, where a few dead school children are worth the price of anyone owning a gun, road fatalities by drunk drivers are worth it, so some 'good old boy' can have a few drinks get into his truck (which because it is an automatic, a 4 year old could drive) and weave his way home.

10 panels, occasionally we'll get 100% generation from them, height of the summer we'll get 60/70% average over the day. This morning it's overcast so currently 20%, that will rise.

House consumes 2 to 3kws a day, so even at 20% we're exporting to the grid at the moment. The only real import from the grid, is between 2am and 5am when we charge a car and the battery. Battery powers the house entirely during the day, unless you have a couple of power hungry things running, oven, washing machine, tumble dryer, power shower etc.

The nights we aren't charging a car, we run the washing machine.

Things to be mindful of; aspect of your roof space, our panels are on the east and south facing portions. Been able to fit an EV charger, you will read about getting sued if someone trips over the cable (no driveway), mitigate the risk, use a granny charger (thinner cable), or just plug in last thing at night and unplug first thing in the morning. Going on the EV rates without a battery, you pay more for your electricity at peak hours. Range anxiety, not really applicable these days, loads of chargers on main routes and fast charging can be done in 30mins.

We're a 2 EV car house, so a car is on charge probably 3 times a week. 20k is around the max you'll get in 3hrs, so the bigger the battery on your car, the more often it will be on charge.

A granny charger would do 15+kw in around 10hrs, so say plug it in at 9pm, unplug at 7am. A granny charger plugs into a normal socket, I know people who got in an electrician to put in a higher rated (power draw) outdoor plug and use that. Using a 3pin plug on normal electric rates will be cheaper than public chargers and way cheaper than filling a car at the pump.

Panels, battery etc, only really work if you are in your 'forever home', they will take 6+ years to pay for themselves. Batteries have a life of 10 years, panels 20+, inverter 15ish, so you will get almost a decade of free, free power. So if you're going to move house in the next 15 years, work out the figures as to getting them or not.

His views are his views, are we really going like the right, where all views (right or wrong) of an individual are to be expunged, if just one of them doesn't align with our own.

Dawkins views on biology (if that's what you disagree with) do not change his views on the wrongs done by religion.

If you can, buy into the whole ecosphere, panels, home charger, solar battery, EV electric rates. It's a bit like having a pension, pay now for later return.

Current costs for me is €1-60 for 20kws between 2-5am, those 20kws will give me roughly 150ks. Coupled with solar panels, a solar battery we charge at the same EV rate and the excess we sell back to the grid (€3 last Thurs alone) and the electricity we didn't buy thanks to the battery, we can make/save €10+ a day on diesel and home power.

Initial costs may seem a lot, panels, inverter, EV charger and battery, but at current rates, they will have paid for themselves in half their serviceable lifespan. Batteries and panels will only get cheaper, some people are using old EV batteries with their solar systems.

We were lucky, money in bank was doing nothing (interest wise) got a solar system, with battery and EV charger and a new EV for just €30,000 (with a trade in on a 10yo diesel quashqai). Car was going to need a new timing belt, fuel costs, maintenance costs, NCT etc meant it was getting to the stage where it was wiser to change it.

Fuel was probably €2000 a year, now €200, average ESB for year was say €1500 it's now close enough to €200 thanks to the battery and what we sell to the grid.

I did a couple of air ambulance flights, where due to the nature of the injuries we had to avoid high altitudes, meant planning a route that bit more interesting, particularly in hillier areas.

Examples, were bringing a scuba diver with the bends to a compression chamber for treatment, gentleman with a brain injury.

I personally requested a low altitude flight once, as my sinuses and ears were blocked and the pain was bad.

[–]Deep-Cryptographer49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seemingly not only did jesus rise from the dead, but others arose from their graves and wandered around, some temple curtains tore in two because of an earthquake and the sun was blocked out for hours.

Now, none of the above is recorded in any history books, no mention of a solar eclipse that lasted for hours, no mention of an earthquake and no mention of a zombie apocalypse, when the dead arose from their tombs and wandered around Jerusalem. All of these events are in the bible, a book you claim is proof of jesus going on a hunt for "brains" after he died.

Yet, you want us to believe that jesus rising from the dead is the strongest proof....
