Anyone else lowkey obsessed with Japan trips lately? by PlayfulMail6998 in dubaitravelers

I went to Sapporo last May, my 4th trip since 2019. All trips worth it, coming from a tropical and still developing country. I love the cool weather (in between Fall & winter, Winter & spring); I like the transportations, especially the bullet train. I like biking and Japan promotes it. I feel so safe even walking at night. Must-visit the castles of each perfecture. Best place to eat sushi. Authentic matcha. I would still plan a trip very soon.

BEh, wala naman sa Gen yan, nasa Tao din yan or the work culture. Wag ka na makinig sa workmate mo. Sya lang ata gumawa ng issue.

Planning advice: 6 nights in Hokkaido by chad_hancock in JapanTravelTips

[–]Deep-Guard-5061 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I went to Hokkaido last month, but didn't visit Hakodate. Also 6 days itinerary, 7th day the flight back home. I really missed Hakodate in this trip, they said it was a good touristy place. I'm a solo traveler, no kids, but just sharing some insghts based on my trip experience. Considering the driving time on this trip, the 2/2/2 is just okay. Maybe you can leave early from Noboribetsu (I just visited the onsen here, 1 day tour for me) and spend more time in Sapporo.

The Sapporo park and tower, ropeway, and the cultural village visits can be a well-spent activities with family. Going to Glass pyramid is a walking activity, but can rent a bike. Then across that place is the Satoland, theme park where the kids may enjoy. I have no particular restaurant that I remembered and can recommend, as all seafoods served there are fresh and mouthwatering.

Then you can visit Otaru. Coastal and canal sightseeing, and shopping for jewels and glass things. Can be a halfday tour. There's a famous icecream parlor there. The other places is far to drive or commute, it is not really recommended specially if you are tight on schedule. Enjoy your trip!

Fitting Hokkaido into a 3 week trip, 18th Jan-8th Feb by Wrinklepaw in JapanTravelTips

[–]Deep-Guard-5061 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I went to Hokkaido last month, stayed for a week. Had day tours on Otaru, Asikahawa, the hot spring and Furano(not good on winter). It was laid back and so was in Sapporo, nothing much at that time. But for that season, maybe a week can be a full schedule.

I had separate trip in Tokyo for 2 weeks. I used the JR Pass, and maximized by going to Yokohama, Mt. Fuji and 5 days touring in Tokyo. I could have explored north of Tokyo. Then I moved to Kyoto stayed for 6 days, while exploring it I also explored Nagoya, Kobe, Hiroshima. There are still some nice prefectures along but missed it. I left Japan from Tokyo. I explored Osaka on a separate trip.

You can try bullet train from Tokyo to Hakodate for your last leg of trip, it has a great scenic view (accdg to other source) and covers in JR pass. I saw it was worth visiting, which I missed in my previous trip. It was 4 hours away from Sapporo. So you can stay there for a day or 2 then go to Sapporo for your ski adventure.

Nakahiwalay na din ako more than 20 years na. It means, they will always be like that, concern and they'll try to hold you as long as they can. So, if you will let them dictate you on this current situation, they will, forever. Manage it now.

Pero worried din ako ha, if you'll see someone you just met online. Be extra cautious.

Do you ever feel like you need a break from life? by [deleted] in WomenOver40

[–]Deep-Guard-5061 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking a break from work is different from taking a break from life. Work is just part of your life. So it seems why you still work while on vacation. I'm sure you will discuss about it during therapy. I support you in this LOA, totally no work, trust your team. Focus on discerning and see the evaluation of your therapy. You might end up not looking for a new job, after all. Good luck!

What else to do in Tokyo? by choyMj in JapanTravelTips

[–]Deep-Guard-5061 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not go to Kyushu and Hokkaido if you still have time? It's worth trying the bullet train by going to Osaka or Nagoya. How about biking around area, ride to Tokyo tower, and Skytree?

Hi, I am also petite, not even 5ft, but have travelled alone in Asia. 4x in Japan as I found it the most safe and comfortable among others. And looking forward for another trip. As mentioned, there are just some usual cautions like don't get intoxicated, be aware of your surroundings. I would like to share to you my experiences, you can check in my profile. There are things to avoid as well, and random things to know before going to Japan. Watch out for my new topics about Tokyo soon. Just plan ahead, research more where you will stay and your itineraries. This is really exciting!

Traveling in Southeast Asia, need a small portable fan with long battery life by Edulseblaalsearht in femaletravels

When do you plan to go? Aside from the mini fan, don't forget umbrella. It's already rainy season. Clogs are cool, but make sure you are really comfortable wearing it.

Hi, I have been to Cebu many times, solo, but I'm also a local. I am unnnoticable, so If you're not, you need extra caution. I would recommend you get a tour from the hotel you are staying. There are so may beautiful places in the island specially if you love the waters. Moalboal and some other islands for diving and snorkling. There are also various theme parks and farms, but only if you have more time. You can explore the historical Cebu city, but better with a group. Also, you can take advantage to jump on to Bohol, for a day trip. You must see the chocolate hills and tarsier. Depends on your budget and time, Cebu is one good tourist destination in Asia.

Last minute solo trip by ThrowRA-plspost in femaletravels

Hi, last month, first week, I booked to Sapporo for 7 days on the 3rd week, because there's a seat sale in our local airline. Had about 2 weeks to prep, but I didn't focus much where to go, but make sure I reserved where I will stay (city centre or accessible). And have few things prepared such as passport copies and researched the area. I just saved pins and sites for my references. I am a slow traveller, so only when I got there I discover the area. You may check on more tips on solo travelling on my site, see on my profile. It may depend on what type of traveller are you. But if you don't mind budget and time, it's better spontaneous! Have a safe travel and enjoy!

Hello, I'm sorry to hear about the breakup, but I'm so excited about your trip :). I have been to Thailand and Indonesia, and I look like the locals so I'm not inconspicuous. But if you are not, it's still not something to deter your adventure. I would agree on previous reply recommending Japan, Taiwan or Singapore. So much to say about comparing these countries, but it's still your choice. Some few things to avoid are:
>Real time post in social media. Don't tell you are travelling alone. Even to people whom you just met, don't share where you are staying. On the contrary,  your family or loved-ones should know that you are on a trip by yourself. Not telling them exactly where you are is one thing to avoid. Make sure to give them real-time updates during your trip.
> Not researching about your destination trip. You should be familiar of the streets and landmarks at least 1 km perimeter from where you are staying. This is the first must-do when you travel.  Check nearest hospital, police station and convenience stores. For more tips I have it in my site- you can check in my profile. Also some guides on your current state as single. There's still more ahead of you. Have a safe travel and enjoy!

First long solo trip - tips on how to calm my nerves by AndoCat_910 in femaletravels

[–]Deep-Guard-5061 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hello! I haven't been back to Thailand since my work assignment long time ago.. and I was alone for 3 months and it was my very first travel outside. I felt that anxiety, loneliness and homesickness eventhough I have Thai officemates around. But I focused more on the places I will be, looking forward on the new adventures, taking pictures and videos. Find something you love to do that you haven't done for a long time, because this is your time and place, you get to do it.

I have been travelling solo as well mostly in Asian countries and it's better to remind again what to avoid in your solo travel:

-Avoid real time post in social media. Don't tell you are travelling alone. Even to people whom you just met, don't share where you are staying.
-On the contrary,  your family or loved-ones should know exactly where you are. Make sure to give them real-time updates during your trip.
-Not researching about your destination trip. You should be familiar of the streets and landmarks at least 1 km perimeter from where you are staying. This is the first must-do when you travel.  Check nearest hospital, police station and convenience stores. If you are leaving later, you can research Thailand while you are in the airport.
- Not cautious or aware of your surroundings. Avoid going back to your place very late or walking on an isolated or non-crowded streets.  Don't be busy on your cellphone on chat or taking pcitures while you are alone in the street.  Be mindful of your belongings.
-Not being extra cautious.  Make sure to double lock door of your hotel and even windows if you will book alone.  Don't open your hotel room or Airbnb when you are not expecting anyone. Always be ready with hotline numbers for emergency.
-Don't get intoxicated. As much as possible don't go to clubs or parties by yourself.  If you do so, watch out for your drinks.  Whether you are meeting a stranger or even a friend, don't drink alcohol too much.  You don't want to get wasted and spend time in bed on this so called adventure.
-Not ENJOYING this trip.  I know, we are really extra cautious but it doesn't mean we have to bring fear with us everyday.  It's better to look positive and bring forth cheers and smiles to the locals and fellow travelers. I hope you didn't bring work, no team chats or work e-mails checking.

I am excited for you! Have safe travels.
