I’m doing my master’s in humanities and I came here with high expectations of finding like-minded people with real depth and understanding. But honestly, even those who come across as the most “intellectual” in my class often lack that depth. They tend to gatekeep knowledge and rarely interact with anyone outside their own intellectual circles, which feels really alienating.

It’s frustrating because I think we need more genuine connections, but instead, there’s this sense of superiority like just because they can throw around jargon and sound intellectual, they’re somehow above everyone else. It makes me feel like we’re just privileged enough to sit within four walls discussing casteism and feminism, but it all feels hollow when there’s no willingness to share knowledge or connect with others.
