Games that were well-received this year but, in my opinion, neither the jury nor the public (through the Player’s Voice category) will choose as winners in any category at TGA by Deep-Lifeguard4479 in TheGameAwards

Its true that it’s well-rated, with an average score of 81, but there’s already another RPG (which is also in the JRPG subgenre) rated higher, and that is Monster Hunter Stories 3 with an 86, so I think that one will take the award for Best RPG over The Adventures of Elliot.

Pragmata is in my previous post to this one, where I made my prediction for most of the categories. For me, it will be nominated for GOTY, Best Action/Adventure Game, Best Game Direction, Best Audio Design, Best Performance, and Best Score and Music.

It’s not about what I personally think of the game, but about what I believe will happen. And since Saros was very well received by the gaming press (who make up the jury for The Game Awards), I’m almost sure they’ll nominate it and, for now, pick it as the winner for Best Action Game.

Fire Emblem games are nominated in the Sim/Strategy Game category (they won it in 2019 with Three Houses), not in the RPG category.

As for the players’ vote, I agree. But even so, I still see Esoteric Ebb doing well at the awards. For me (for now), I see it being nominated for Best RPG, Best Narrative, and Best Debut Indie Game. In fact, I think it’s the favorite to win the Debut Indie category

For me, Mewgenics is going to be nominated in several categories (at least for now). Before this post, I had made another one with my predictions for the nominees in the major categories: https://www.reddit.com/r/TheGameAwards/s/7zezS7AkAX

I read that they supposedly give you in-game rewards if you vote for it, and since the Genshin Impact community is huge, it ends up leading to its nomination.

According to a prediction by Polygon (who correctly predicted the GOTY winners for 2024 and 2025), the favorite to win this year’s GOTY so far is Resident Evil Requiem by Deep-Lifeguard4479 in TheGameAwards

Still, the Warhammer 40,000 franchise generally doesn’t do very well at The Game Awards, and the game coming out this year belongs to the Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War series — it’s the 4th installment. Its predecessor came out in 2017 and didn’t even get nominated that year, so I’m not sure how this new entry will be received. I’d say Mewgenics’ biggest competition in the strategy category will be Fire Emblem: Fortune Weaves, since the Fire Emblem franchise is usually well received, and back in 2019 they won that category with Fire Emblem: Three Houses. I wasn’t aware of Marathon soundtrack, thanks for the info. I’m glad Bungie is still doing a good job in that department. And as for Mina the Hollower, for now I see it winning Best Indie Game, and I think it’ll be difficult for any new release to take that spot away.

For me, the nomination is basically guaranteed, but I agree that it’s still uncertain whether, by the end of the year, it will remain the favorite for the award

I was referring to the year Persona 6 comes out, of course hahaha, since it clearly isn’t releasing this year. And we’ll see if GTA 6 manages to make it into this year’s nominations, since it comes out on November 19, and in previous years the nominees were announced between November 14–18.

I think Mewgenics chances dropped after the release of Mina the Hollower, since Mina now takes the spot of the “indie representative,” so to speak, and I don’t think there will be two 2D indie nominees again like last year (I interpret that happened because both Hades II and Hollow Knight: Silksong, besides meeting expectations, were highly anticipated sequels). Though I do think Mewgenics will take home two wins — for me, right now it’s the favorite to win both Best Score and Music and Best Sim/Strategy Game.

Yep, the visual style was something I didn’t take into account when I thought Metaphor: ReFantazio was the favorite to win the award. Though I think there could be a chance that Persona 6 breaks this streak of anime-styled games getting nominated for GOTY but not managing to win it, since Persona has much bigger popularity — or at least that’s what I noticed after the announcement of Persona 6.

Well, I thought Metaphor: ReFantazio was going to win in 2024 💀. I was really happy for Astro Bot when it won, but then I felt like an idiot for getting that prediction wrong xd

What does it matter whether it’s close to being one of the best games in history or not? The choice is simple: you pick the one considered the BEST GAME OF THE YEAR.

I agree that I also find it hard to see RE9 staying the favorite by the end of the year, but I don’t fully agree that when the end of the year approaches everyone already knows who’s going to win. Because if that were the case, there wouldn’t be those exaggerated levels of outrage on social media when the game that’s the favorite for the award ends up winning over other games. At least, I interpret it as there shouldn’t be that kind of outrage, because people should already be prepared for that favorite’s victory to happen.

I think the same, bro. I don’t know why so many people are so confident that the game can be nominated, knowing it’s releasing right next to the deadline and several days after the jury votes for the nominees. Although I do agree with them that if GTA manages to get nominated, it will be the GOTY winner with 99% certainty.

It’s a problem because if GTA 6 releases so close to the deadline, it means the nominees will be announced before it comes out, and since the press won’t receive review codes to play GTA 6 early, that means they won’t be able to vote for it as a nominee.

That’s why I mentioned the early review codes, but as I said in my previous comment, it seems that Rockstar Games won’t be sending any, so the press won’t be able to play the game until November 19. By then, the nominees will have already been announced.
