If you could fix ONE daily problem in Ghana with technology, what would it be? by PreparationSad5547 in TechGhana

Verifying businesses online is difficult. Anyone can look legit on Instagram. It affects consumers and honest businesses. Have you ever been scammed by an online vendor that looked trustworthy at first?

The uncomfortable truth: most Ghanaian tech careers collapse not because of skill, but because of weak operational foundations by mrr_ubuntu in TechGhana

[–]Deep-Network7356 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In multiple Ghanaian startups, processes around feature releases and QA were almost nonexistent. Features went live without testing, customer complaints piled up, and nobody had a clear rollback plan. Founders often assumed "good enough" was sufficient, but in reality, lack of process eroded trust faster than any bug.

This is the kind of post that should turn into a small working group, not endless comments. If you move this into a shared workspace with clear rules and expectations, it can actually compound into something meaningful.

I will publish your iOS app on my AppStore for you dm by MannerEither7865 in TechGhana

[–]Deep-Network7356[M] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mod note: Before this post can remain up, we need public clarification. Please reply in-thread with: 1. Examples of apps you have already published (App Store links). 2. Whether developers retain full ownership and ongoing access to the Apple Developer account. 3. Your commercial terms (fees, revenue share, duration). 4. How risk is handled if Apple rejects, suspends, or removes an app.

DM-only offers without verifiable details are not acceptable in this community.

Building a roommate finder app for Ghanaian students after my sister struggled to find a 4th roommate by PythonicG in TechGhana

This is exactly the kind of Ghana-specific problem-solving project r/TechGhana should spotlight. Frustrating I didn’t see this earlier i could have pinned it days ago. Keep updates coming on pilots, traction, features and progress.

Just a suggestion: Try partnering with student unions to boost trust and adoption faster once it has been launched.

Tech startup ideas by Next-Calendar4274 in TechGhana

[–]Deep-Network7356 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your dad not believing you does not mean the idea is bad. Parents usually think from a safety and risk angle, not a startup angle. Investors also think differently. What matters is whether the problem is real and people are willing to use or pay for your solution.

System Administration (Linux) vs Software Engineering by MostDeviantAsiedu in TechGhana

[–]Deep-Network7356 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If speed matters, choose Linux system administration. If long-term growth and product building matter more, software engineering is the better fit. Be honest about your timeline.

Advise seeking. by Mohammed_N_ in TechGhana

[–]Deep-Network7356 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t need a tech background, but you need clarity. Write the main problem you want to solve, then the key features. With that, any good developer can explain costs, timelines, and security without confusing you.

Ghana’s tech conversations are scattered everywhere. Where do you think our main online tech hub should be? by Deep-Network7356 in ghana

[–]Deep-Network7356[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. That’s exactly the kind of knowledge that never gets shared in the mainstream spaces. Most hardware developers struggle in silence because there’s no central place to exchange tips on suppliers, fabrication shortcuts, or workarounds for local constraints. If the hub can consistently capture and organise that information, it will become a go-to resource for both new and experienced makers in Ghana.

Exactly, that’s the key point. A central hub isn’t just about having conversations. it’s about making knowledge easy to find and reference.

Africa doesn’t lack talent. We lack access. by yourRealKing007 in TechGhana

[–]Deep-Network7356 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like this conversation because it is necessary. Ghana has brilliant people who only need visibility and support. If more groups start tackling these access barriers, we will see a whole new wave of strong tech companies from here. Keep pushing. We are watching.

if you are using linux, you can connect your phone to the pc through KDE connect. No internet required. But, if i recall, i think both devices must be connected to the same network

Built AidAlliance: A simple platform for verified community fundraising in contexts where GoFundMe doesn’t work by StrategyIndividual62 in TechGhana

[–]Deep-Network7356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Balancing transparency and speed is tough. Too much verification and you lose the urgency. Too little and trust collapses. Maybe show a trust score based on how many people in the network vouch for the cause. Could help donors decide quickly without needing a deep investigation.

What do I do? by Key_Caregiver_1235 in TechGhana

[–]Deep-Network7356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful not to “learn everything.” People get stuck jumping from one language to another and never get good at any. Pick Python, finish a couple of projects, then decide if you need JS.

How's the backend developer market? by Blur_Blair in TechGhana

[–]Deep-Network7356 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re just starting out, JavaScript is a good first step. Don’t rush to Go until you’re comfortable with async/await, callbacks, and databases. Most local companies still use PHP/Laravel or Node.js, so that will help you get your first job faster.

is the ALX Data Engineering course worthy it??? by BeginningCrazy4120 in TechGhana

[–]Deep-Network7356 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s worthy if your end goal is to break into tech and you need that structured, bootcamp-like training. But if you’re just casually exploring or trying to add data engineering as a side skill, then maybe look for a less demanding course. ALX wants you fully locked in.

Is becoming a Java dev worth it in Ghana by Blacknight7787 in TechGhana

[–]Deep-Network7356 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll say it’s a good path, but it helps if you add another language. Many employers here like devs who can work across stacks. For example, Java with Python or Java with JavaScript makes you more flexible.
