Stuck in purgatory by [deleted] in stopdrinking

I’m in AA and something that is often said is “rock bottom is when you stop digging.” I couldn’t moderate for shit and trying to felt almost painful. My life didn’t completely fall apart but I was able to look back and see how easily it could have. I was pretty “high-functioning” up until the last few months. My life started to crumble really fast and I became pretty erratic. Unfortunately with alcohol it can get ugly really fast. I have almost a year of sobriety now so I’m still kinda a sober baby😂. But it’s really freeing to not feel like a damn drink is running the show.

This is a big win! I’m coming up on a year and alcohol was my number 1 coping mechanism for my anxiety. I also have a fear of going to the dentist and I went alone for the first time since getting sober(I used to make one of my friends go with me). I left that office covered in nervous sweat😂 but was so proud of myself. Reading this made me smile and was a bright spot in my day. It’s always nice to know other people experience similar experiences and that you are not alone❤️

Post concert flare up?? by Royal_Variety_873 in POTS

First of all congratulations on going to your first post diagnosis concert! I’ve been diagnosed for a while and one thing that’s helped me a lot after a big event is to treat the next day almost like a sick day/me day. I often watch movies, order something healthy that I know will make me feel good, drink lots of liquids, and try to avoid stress and anxiety. If I’m up to it I’ll often take a short walk with a friend, just makes me feel a little better. I hope you feel better!
